View Full Version : 2012 S-B Angler of the Year Award - Nominations thread
JohnR 01-15-2013, 04:23 PM OK - its that time to NOMINATE (not vote) for the 2012 Striped-Bass.com Angler of the Year.
Remember, NOMINATION, not voting part? Top nominees will be entered in a poll to determine who the S-B.com COMMUNITY feels the Angler of the Year.
Simple Rules:
* Angler needs to be a member with (at least) regular PARTICIPATION in 2012. Should be based on great angling, not soley on being a great S-Ber and and all around good fellow.
* Name only
* Member needs TWO nominations (nomination and seconded)
I'll take these names for nomination for this week and put up an anonymous poll after for voting. Member needs TWO nominations (a/k/a nomination and seconded). Winner to be announced at TFCTFN)
So all you Nancy's that want to beech about it, please start your own thread :wall: :devil2:

RIJIMMY 01-15-2013, 04:30 PM Paul Iemma
Canal, boat and surf guy that puts in his time, helps others and never lost the joy of fishing.
tattoobob 01-15-2013, 04:32 PM DZ Gets my nomination
Back Beach 01-15-2013, 04:35 PM I second RI JIMMY's nomination.
MAKAI 01-15-2013, 06:44 PM I'll third that for Paul.
Sounds like he drinks Dos Equis anyway !
Slipknot 01-15-2013, 06:48 PM Paul Moriarty
numbskull 01-15-2013, 06:57 PM Who's he?
Whatever, I'll second him just to fill out the field.
WESTPORTMAFIA 01-15-2013, 07:11 PM I'll nominate myself. I caught a 69 pounder from the surf this year and let it go. I just didn't tell anyone about it. That's not even my PB. Actually forget it..... JohnR said you have to be an all around good fellow. I guess that wasn't a prerequisite when TonyO and Veracka won:rotf2:
I'll 2nd Slip's vote
Paul Moriarty
Clammer 01-15-2013, 07:13 PM how about a award for gear maintanence ><><:fishin:
or the do,s & don,t ><><><>:fishin:
iamskippy 01-15-2013, 07:35 PM Nomination for : Andrew Stevenson (aka Tysdad aka lord of the blitz) he's put more time in, in the surf then anyone I know, he also expanded his portfolio this year by learning the art of bucktail jigging, jigging plastic, eeling, and so on. He's also one of the first guys to jump at the first chance to help a member in need. Either with broken down bikes, cars or fishing he's there.

fishbones 01-15-2013, 08:36 PM I don't really know him, but I'll nominate Dave Anderson. Not only for the year he had fishing, but for all he did organizing and running the Tourney for Chuck this past fall.

Paul Iemma. And Paul Iemma. That's my two choices

blondterror 01-15-2013, 09:48 PM I second for Andy Stevenson...he put in some serious time last year and was incredibly helpful to many, many guys including myself.... plus he is a lot of fun to fish with...
Sgt Striper 01-15-2013, 11:18 PM I'll third that Andy guy, hey his kid taught him well! Also both of them Paul guys too.
piemma 01-16-2013, 05:33 AM As much as I'd be honored I have to nominate Professor M as my first choice and Toby Lapinski as my second.

I was just about to nominate John! My other nomination goes to Rich Morris (Strider) for not only having an amazing season, but also for landing a 55 in the surf back in May. :fishin:
PaulS 01-16-2013, 09:29 AM DZ

GattaFish 01-16-2013, 09:35 AM I was just about to nominate John! My other nomination goes to Rich Morris (Strider) for not only having an amazing season, but also for landing a 55 in the surf back in May. :fishin:

Rich Morris (Strider)
O.D. Mike 01-16-2013, 09:36 AM Second Tyler Stevenson!!!
tysdad115 01-16-2013, 10:35 AM Second Tyler Stevenson!!!
Thanks guys, Tyler is not an active member here yet. He's only 12 and I think 1 Stevenson is more than enough until he's a bit older.
And to those who nominated me, thank you. But I don't hold a candle to everyone else mentioned here, I appreciate it and it is nice to be held in high regards by my friends but realistically my name doesn't belong mentioned with the other guys.
Swimmer 01-16-2013, 11:08 AM And to those who nominated me, thank you. But I don't hold a candle to everyone else mentioned here, I appreciate it and it is nice to be held in high regards by my friends but realistically my name doesn't belong mentioned with the other guys.
Self-effacing and extremely honest. Gotta love it. Andy gets my vote.
Hookedagain 01-16-2013, 12:08 PM My vote goes to Paul Morioty, and Andy Stevenson. These guys both fish hard and both have good results/ These guys will help anyone who asks, weather it is fishing, auto help, plug building or whatever....they help. They are also very modest.
wader-dad 01-16-2013, 01:08 PM Nomination is Rich Morris - not just for being a tremendous fisherman and his 55 last year- but in his selfless work on organizing and leading successful CSA MS Tournaments last year and raising money for MS.
The word "respect" was invented to apply to this guy.
Second Toby.
striperman36 01-16-2013, 02:53 PM if catching fish is a requirement, I'm not sure TysDad can be nominated.
Otherwise, Zappa's Uncle
Tagger 01-16-2013, 04:12 PM DZ ,,, Paul Moriarity

pbadad 01-16-2013, 09:51 PM Rich Morris. As a fisherman and person, Rich is a standout. His experience in the surf is second to the help and learning he provides his fellow surfcasters. Rich has lead CSA for many years in the fall MS Tournament. Rich lead this event to back to back first place finishes. Second Toby Lapinski
ivanputski 01-16-2013, 09:57 PM JLH
Strider
Toby Lapinski
in any order...
Rockfish9 01-17-2013, 09:28 AM Lot's of worth nominee's
I'm on board with the Professer... even though he snubbed a trip with Slip and I for fishing the canal...not just for his fish catching capabilities, but for the way he's quick to help out with fish or plug ( building) related questions
A couple guys that I haven't seen nominated yet that should be.
Tom White – Put together the Block Island trip for the RTHB charity earlier this year and an all around good guy.
Numbskull – Shares a ton of good information on the site related to fishing and plug building. Seems to catch a few fish too…

my entries
ivanputski 01-17-2013, 12:39 PM JLF... great point there... Tom White (gattafish) is a great nominee... the block trip he put together warrants a nomination...

X2 on Tom. I was going to nominate him, but I know he likes to say under the radar. He is an all around good guy, who was the first company to step up and help me when I was raising money for our veterans. He is the best fisherman I have fished with and his results prove it. And he does everything for the right reasons, and never looks for attention like some others.
tattoobob 01-17-2013, 05:33 PM Fishing Freak, always willing to take anyone out on his boat and is one hell of a fisherman
keeperreaper 01-17-2013, 05:39 PM the Professor.
Rob Rockcrawler 01-17-2013, 06:02 PM Chef Chris, never fished with him but seems like a good guy always helpful.
Piemma, always helpful as well and can catch em up.
Saltheart, ya need to know something bout a rod, hes the guy.
Mojo7 01-18-2013, 10:55 AM My nominations would be for:
Paul-ProfM
Andy-tysdad115
Both great guys who put in alot of time fishing and are very helpful.

PRBuzz 01-18-2013, 06:14 PM I'll 2nd the Freak's nomination by Tattobob, Mike fishes constantly and catches FISH! Haven't seen him dip a pole from the sand or rocks though, a true BOAT guy and boat fish definitely count! Just ask Red's Best.
chefchris401 01-18-2013, 06:37 PM Prof M and Numbskull and Rockfish9
cant really pick one
always willing to help, they catch, cover all the bases of fishing, contribute a lot of content to the site, genuinely nice guys.
