ProfessorM 01-15-2013, 08:15 PMGeez if I could remember half the shows I saw, and not that I was blasted at most of them, which I was, I'm just getting older and they seem so long ago. Wish I had pictures but if I had a camera then I would have just lost it probably. A few of the smaller venues, which I always preferred
Atlanta Rhythm Section, Orpheum Theater, fantastic show I couldn't tell you when early 80's probably
First time I saw the then Dixie Dregs, Paradise B town, we walked out saying wow over and over again.,
Sealevel, front table with drink next to Chuck Leavell's piano leg :uhuh:, Paradise, beantown , fantastic.
that is enough for now my brain hurts from remembering.

Jackbass 01-16-2013, 06:29 AMI am not as seasoned as the Prof but I have seen a ton of shows. Phish worcester Aud NYE 1992 was awesome. Opening night of summer tour was great this year as well. I saw BB King at Foxwoods. Tori Amos was an incredible show. I got to see government mule and meet the band a friend of mine twin sister was married to Allan Woody before he passed away. Too many dead shows to count. I felt privileged to see the first playing of Unbroken Chain but Enjoyed seeing Visions of Johanna during that run more (thanks to a prompter Jerry didn't forget the words)
Parliament Funkadelic at Lupos and other locations was a great time. G Love and the special sauce at the Beach Comber in well fleet back in 1996? Was great. Perfect venue for those guys

My Favorite two shows of all time has to be Maceo Parker forgot the name of the venue down in Rhodie. Just a super tight band. Unbelievable energy. And Tower of Power at scullers.

RIJIMMY 01-16-2013, 09:52 AMCoolest experience - George Clinton and the PFunk allstars in San Francisco. It was an after hours show, the doors didnt open until 1 am. I remember leaving the concert when it was light out, we couldnt find a cab and I was so wired i walked 3 miles home. Great show and they never stopped for close to 4 hours.
I was at a record store buying tickets with my wife, then girlfiend, for I think leann rhimes? and tickets were going on sale for BB King Blues Fest, I said wth and got them. The lady printing the ticket was like, these are great seats! When we got there we were about 6 rows away from the front, right in the center. Saw BB, Robert Cray, Jimmie Vaughn, J Geils and a few others. Best seats I ever had.
MikeD 01-16-2013, 10:47 AMI love this thread idea! I've got a few shows that I just happened to be in the right place at the right time. When I was a freshman at Syracuse my roommate talked me into going to this to Glen's Falls NY for a Halloween Phish show. This was their first "musical costume" show. They did the Beatles white album in entirety for the 2nd set. An amazing show from start to finish. A random Black Sabbath war pigs verse in the middle of a song in the first set. Just a lot of fun.

MikeD 01-16-2013, 10:58 AMThe other one I can't remember the exact date, but it was the summer of 1992 at the Rocky Point Palladium in RI. The Beastie Boys, L7 and Luscious Jackson. It was one of those times where you understood you were seeing something massive happening. Cobain is always credited with destroying all the glam rockers but that night I could hear the guys from Poison, Cinderella and Motley Crue screaming as the Beasties made everyone lose their minds. The Slow and Low was other worldly.
Slipknot 01-16-2013, 11:12 AMA very memorable live show for me was John Lee hooker at Chuy's in Tempe, AZ one night in 1984. We got the a little late and had to stand since all the tables were taken. By the time the show was on the last song Boom Boom boom he had the place absolutely going nuts. He was incredible to see live. As he walked off stage to the back i got to shake his hand. He's a legend if you ask me. Here is a youtube of the last song that night but from elsewhere and not nearly as good.

Another couple I was there shows = Pink Floyd Foxboro, Roger Waters the Wall a couple years ago, Jerry Garcia acoustic at the Opera house, the Dead in Maine at a racetrack about 1988, the Dead Ventura ,CA 1984.
My first concert was Boston 1978, I sat behind the stage at the Garden and they put up some huge organ and we couldn't see anything.
Saw the Boss Bruce Springsteen at the Garden in 1980 on my 20th birthday, good show.

sokinwet 02-04-2013, 08:20 AMIt was before they invented the camera but I attended two "historic" concerts back in the day; went with my older sister! 1st was the Beatles at Suffolk Downs...2nd was Bob Dylan's 1st electric concert at Symphony Hall. I was too young to realize what I was seeing....just remember lots of guys with long hair. My parents paid for the tickets....little did they know what they started.
