still my vote for best unknown guitarist of all time.:) They didn't call him "The Humbler" for nutin. This is a nice story on him. The sad ending of his life, which came a few years after this story, was he committed suicide at his home in his garage.

Very Sad .. I look at him and say wow ,,he has it all . Great talent , love of cars and probably a great mechanic, building street rods . Loves archaeology ,, What a great , full, life . Suicide ? You never really knows what's going on in someones head . No matter what gifts they have .

I'll tell ya what added to it, I have a bootleg dvd of a ton of his tv broadcasts , on almost every single one, there is some television commentator interviewing danny with a big smile saying "you've been labeled the greatest unknown guitar player, blah, blah" and every time you should see danny's face. how many times can you hear that and not have it hurt? The fact that he was unknown and outside of most people, still unknown after all the years he had on the road and the amazing talent he possessed. it must take its toll over time.
