How do you fill your time in the winter while still keeping your fishing interests alive?? Climbing the walls here!!:jump1:

JohnR 02-01-2013, 08:27 AM Working my ass off with crappy work. I like my job but the job is difficult these days. Nothing is easy. Everything is a hassle.
But there are many more difficult jobs being done by others
BigFish 02-01-2013, 08:34 AM We know how Eben is staying entertained! LOL!! But hey....as long as it has an "actual face"!!! LOL!!!:rotf2::rotf2:
My fishing pace just slows down a bit, it's a nice break to be honest. I'm so beat up by thanksgiving from all the trips. I catch up on all the non fishing activities - real life stuff. Cod, smelt, and some ice fishing hold me over until it starts again

That's what happens when he drinks more than one IPA at a sitting. You should see his seconds bin at the glass shop after a Laguintas. ;)

fishbones 02-01-2013, 12:24 PM Changing out hooks, resealing some plugs, tying leaders, servicing my reels and putting new line on them, and counting down the days
I'll start doing all of that about 2 days before I start fishing.
Right now I pretty much take my son around to all his soccer and lacrosse practices and games, do some local ice fishing and try to keep in shape by running on the treadmill. Oh yeah, I drink a lot during the winter, too.
l.i.fish.in.vt 02-01-2013, 12:32 PM as long as the ski lifts are turning no need to think about fishing.the last week in april is when my thoughts turn to fishing.
fishrick 02-01-2013, 02:17 PM Work, work out 3x a week, ice fish, tie jigs, repair plugs, organize, then reorganize fishing stuff, hit Altmar, NY for steelhead a couple of times, and jig panfish through the ice, and plan, plan, plan for when better weather gets here!! Lots of reading too, from internet and DZ's book:uhuh:.
Clogston29 02-01-2013, 02:25 PM winter doesn't bother me. i like not stressing about fishing for a while.
I’m kind of enjoying the down time this winter, last year was a fun but long season. Been keeping busy planning a wedding (more tagging along and nodding as the wedding gets planned), ice fishing, trout fishing, working out and just relaxing.
Eventually I need to get around to tying up some more jigs and tail hooks. Need new boots and should rewire or swap the hooks out on plugs.
Hard to believe that it’s already February...
GregW 02-01-2013, 03:19 PM I haven't had much free time so it hasn't been getting to me too much.
Between school, a new dog, and the house there is plenty going on and not much free time.
My plans for this off-season are to organize the basement and get it set up properly for all my gear, get an eel tank set up, get my z serviced, replace hooks and swivels, and tie up an excess of leaders.
piemma 02-01-2013, 03:50 PM I am too busy with work and home stuff to get bored.
stripermaineiac 02-01-2013, 04:39 PM LOL That's what gettin old is like piemma. Never enough down time to fill with all those ideas in the head. LOL. Like tryin to get it all done so you can rest then another damn idea pops in the head LOL
new jack 02-01-2013, 04:40 PM I like to read books about fishing during my lunch break. All the usual authors. If the author is good, i can picture the story the playing out in my head and thnking about that gets me thru the day. just Finished up DZ's book, and now rereading for subtle tips and techniques. 😎
