I realize the yak thang but......there is a definite lack of kayak launch site access from Eastham to P-town......gotta have resident stickers and such...PIA!! Glad we pay for licenses!!:fury:

Weighed a 42.5# fish there in sept of '93, they were very territorial and not so nice from my recollection, perhaps the new owners will be different.

No. Every Surf Rat that I've met who used to haunt the beaches 6 nights a week on the backside and the Race don't bother wasting their time any more.

This type of mentality slays me.. " surf fishing the cape sucks.. no one every does it any more"

Fact is.. if everyone fished the beaches as much as they used to, I am sure everyone would be surprised how many fish they find..

there is more than just the backside on the cape. I am not saying it is world class and reminiscent of the good old days on the stretch for p town to chatham but the bay side has decent shore fishing thru out the year and south side has periods of good fishing thru the year too. There are doldrums but not a total waste of time. That being said i hope everyone does think it sucks, more spots for me.

For the bazzilionth time....its not that there are no fish....just that unless you happen to live there it is not worth the drive don there any longer....its not as good as it used to be!

No one goes to that restaurant any more... It's too crowded!

so the last time you were in there was 20 years ago- and ya still hold a grudge??

Tackle shops or for that matter anything to do with small scale fishing is a tough way to make a buck

OT but somewhat related: (regarding fish populations)

I went to a local fishing club meeting the other night and they had 2 speakers from DMF. One spoke about data collection and what they did with it and the other spoke about the lic $ and how it is spent.
Polished powerpoint presentations. At the end they asked if anyone had any questions about the talk or anything marine fisheries related .
I raised my hand and the said..."Yeah, I have a lot of questions...first let me preface by saying please don't take what I am about to say personal"... and then opened with a barrage of problem issues I have with DMF. Most of his answers were boilerplate responses and not satisfactory except for one. To say I was passionate would have been an understatement.

Regarding SB on the cape and islands(and why I brought this up at all) , they think SB populations are fine. Yes they are lower than previous years and the fish are smaller but they feel they have enough breeders to sustain them. He said that it is expected that this trend will continue in the future but the stock as a whole is in good shape. It appears we had too many bass around before and now is a more normal population. That is the impression he left. We left shaking out heads in disbelief.

If you want me to discuss the other topics I will but in another thread but it was not that bright outlook. I was pretty POed . My wife took my blood pressure when I got home. (for real)

YES..both parcels..and got his dough.. just proving what an old used car salesman told me many years ago.. "Well kid..remember this, there is an ass for every toilet seat..if you don't want it..somebody else will just have to have it."

as for the rest of this conversation.. I'm out.. I think the crack pipe has been passed as far as the great surfcasting on the cape!..but I understand the agendas.... :yak5:
