Could you experts please post to this thread some pictures of how you rig your gear?

I hear names of lures or types of rigs and keep going to google to try and find pictures of what you are talking about.

Course if you want to throw in a map to a place to fish them too...

Dunno about photos but how are you fishing? What do you want to know?

My wife thinks I'm a nut for watching fishing shows on espn etc.
Actually what I am doing is watching to see how they rig the plastics, what lures they have tied on, are they using beads etc.

Trying to match what they have that works with what I have in my tackle box.

My first success with stripers came last week (as you can see by the posts I have made). However it was not by words but by following a fellow out and watching him work his gear. His selection of bait and why. How the bait was cut - the thickness of the mackerel chunk. Where the hook was placed - into the skin near the top and out through the skin on the other side of the fish side-to-side not front to back. That the hook was simply tied on and no special leaders or floats or swivels or weight etc were used. How he retrieved - slow steady with an occasional twitch every few cranks. How he set the hook - a slow pull and then a firm yank to complete the set. I am very visual and hands on.

What I really am looking for is someone that I can follow and fish with. Watching what they do that works and then trying to emulate it in hope that their success will also pass on to me.

People here really hold info tight to their chest and for the most part I can understand that and will respect their decision. Especially when they are making their living by beating someone else to the fish.

I would like to expand my repertoir to lures as well as bait so that I have more chance to fish when my commute from hell brings me ever so slowly across the merimack, shawsheen, ipswich, mystic, charles, neponsit, fore, back, or north rivers.

[/i] It's a combination of many things. It's a combination of finding a fishing buddy, reading books & the net, maybe taking out a professional instructional shore guide, and time spent on the water. There are also so many types of fishing and everyone is a little different...

But the most closely held information is precise spots, not so much technique. What are you looking for on technique? As far as people taking pictures of how they chunk a mac and rig it, I don't think I've seen that. Ever. Done it a thousand times but never photo'd it. The people that tend to detail photo info like rigging usually do it for presentations - something to look into in a club or at seminars in the winter time...

I have the commute from hell now - I got laid off and have no commute - which is hell. But I did do the 65 mile Warwick to Boston but I think NH to Marshfieled would be AWFUL.... (tip - move to South Shore, save commute and have longer fishing season :) ) ... As for expanding your arsenal - yes, adding new tools helps tremendously... You should look at Bill -n- Jul's for a shore guide. They do excellent work for the kind of instructiuonal - How-To - on lure fishing and what to look for. I agree - Juls provided a lot of information or rigging and technique.

I also agree to moving to the north shore. Moved from Nashua to Weymouth and I love it.

On moving -
I have been in Scituate for over 30 years and don't want to leave.
My current job in Andover - Technical Architect and Manager of UNIX Amdinistration, is slated to end in September. At which time I will hopefully have found something closer. - anyone need a UNIX Admin?

I may also use my fallback plan - find a restaurant that needs an experienced cook. It has been a few years since I cooked proffessionally however I have never stopped cooking for myself.

maybe we can hook up sometime.. I live in hingham and do some bait and some lure fishing. north river is a good spot for both. evening is best. let me know... pm me....
