what are you boat guys using for tackle bags, boxes, buckets whatever you use. Looking for ideas. The SIMMS bag looks good but is pricey at $200. Right now Im using a small plastic tub for rigs and lead, soft plastics. and for plugs i have a back pack with the big plano trays tossed in it. I need a more organized system. I have crap all over the place. What are you guys using?

The west marine blackfin bags that fit planos aren't bad at all. Easy to carry on and off too.

Aqua Skinz used to make a boat bag I remember looking at it at one of the shows

MAK Angler has something coming soon that will be built like their plug bags in respect to durability but designed for the boat.

It's specs are based on the basic 3700 and the 3730 Plano which a lot of guys who throw big plugs like.

It's also compatible with their plug bag tubes. Various combos of 3730, 3700, and/or tubes are possible so you have storage options for everything from terminal tackle and rigging all the way up to the biggest of plugs.

It's pretty sweet, but it's still a little ways out. This year though, probably by summer.

Google Lakewood products tackle bags they have 30 different options. All extremely well made with endless options

I recently got a waterproof bag from Basspro,the Extreme Messenger Bag. Its the medium size of the three bags but still big enough to stuff clothing and anything else you need.

My real score are what I use for boat tackle bags. These I found at Savers. Although I know that does nothing for the purpose of this thread,, there are some great bags that can be used for tackle at Savers, or thrift shops. Both of these bags are compact travel bags made for shampoo and hygiene products. The red bag I use for electronics/tackle bag with lots storage and the other I use as a tuna tackle bag, with a large side pocket for leaders. He shoots he scooooores... that's how I feel about these bags.

Plano makes a shelf-organizer thingy that can hold 3 or 4 3700 boxes. fits inside a milk crate.... cost is around $25. they look OK, but I've only seen them online- never in person though

I'll tell ya.....I find it hard to organise all my fishing stuff and then be happy with it. Always looking for something in a rush and not being able to find it. I think the better way is the plano boxes with a big majic marker......tuna, bass, cod etc. And then a way to stow those so they are not sliding around the deck.

I think im going in that direction as well, and have the trays in some sort of bag. Right now I have random trays everywhere, random jigs and plugs in a stroage container, I just need to get organized badly. Thanks for the solid ideas.

Exactly what I use too. Cant beat the price.

Some year I am going to install 2 of these on the fwd end of my engine box. Have to double check the depth.

the problem i have found with using any "household" bags for boat purposes is that the zippers tend to get stuck after a little exposure.

I end up switching out boxes depending on what type of fishing i plan on, but usually it is good for a few weeks as seasons progress. I have one plano that has all hooks & terminal tackle that never leaves the box, and one with sinkers that also never leaves the bag.

Then I have a white bucket that I usually throw a bag of frozen squid or some other bait I am bringing, and i throw a bait knife and a lip gripper in there. When I am fishing, i usually end up hanging the lures/rigs that I am switching between on the bucket, and then sort it all out when I get home, instead of constantly putting them back in their trays.

I would like to find a better system, but haven't yet. And not for lack of looking.

I have one of those yellow Bass Pro Extreme boat bags. Awesomely tough and waterproof bag but........

The D rings i have to cut off because they are steel and rusting. Called BP to bitch about that but "thed rings aren't under the warrantee". Yes on a boat bag...go figure.

Also inside the top cover of the bag is a fishnet liner with a zipper. This looks like a great place to store stuff but can i tell you how freaking long it takes to get fish hooks untangled from that fine fish net stuff....omg.

Got this one for Xmas this year, now need to figure out how to organize it...

Im looking at that cabelas and the yellow basspro duffle bag that holds the 3700's. Both are seem like their going to do the trick.

I find that if you have tackle storage space built into the boat then most of your go-to tackle never leaves the boat. Not a fan of having these big bags full of tackle. keeping things as simple as possible is best.

It's all about the 3730 when it comes to Plano's and bigger plugs and gear. It's a Plano box for men. It eats giant topwater plugs for a snack. Storing the box effectively is the tricky part.

If you can survive without the big boxes Shimano's boat bags aren't bad either. Rigid frames make it easy to slide the boxes in and out of the bag.

I find a lot of these boat bags work well for a while but then a zipper fails, usually in fairly short order, and then I hate the bag for the rest of its short life.

yeah thats my whole issue now pete. I have 7 3730's all over the place.

Yellow Bass Pro Bags, cheap enough that after a few years if they are bad throw them out. Fill em with plano boxes. That way I can mix and match as the season progresses. Fluke to Bass to Albies etc...

I rep a company in NC that builds all aluminum custom air handlers, they built a custom box to fit in my T-top where an electronics box would typically go. It's designed to take 10 plano 3700's and a couple bins for emergency gear paper work etc. Keeps me from having to load up every trip.
