My friend caught a 5 pound blue out of Osterville harbor on Monday using hot dogs for bait. Not an April fools joke. He says blues and bass love hot dogs.

A number of years ago (2004 or so) I picked up a couple bluefish on April 3rd surf fishing off of chappy. I remember coming back on the ferry and the driver asked me ...any bass yet? No, I said but I got a couple of bluefish! He did not believe me until he opened the cooler.

Every now and again there are schools that explore the cold water. I believe you.
