My brother was looking to purchase a computer monitor from Officemax, and after receiveing an email from the store, he saw what he wanted in their flyer.
He went to the Walpole Officemax @ 10 am on the first day of that weeks sale (based on the flyer) and was first in line to get in the store.
When he asked about that particular model on the flyer, he was told that they don't have that model in stock anymore.
When he asked a cleck about the lack of in store stock, he was told that the model was discontinued and that ne might have better luck trying to get it online.

Well, after wasting his time and money driving to this store, he proceeded to email the corporate office.

After explaining the issue in detail he received THIS reply from some office flunky:

Hello,

Thank you for your email. Our advertisements are printed several weeks in advance. It is likely that we have depleted stock of this item before the promotion was released. Price and availability of items may vary at any time. I apologize for any inconvenience this has caused you.

OfficeMax thanks you for the opportunity of servicing your future business and personal supply needs. If we can be of further assistance please do not hesitate to contact us.

Thank you for choosing OfficeMax!

Sincerely,

Since this was the second time this store chain has screwed him over with false advertising, he will not be going there again.

This is more a warning to some that may be considering a computer or electronics purchase, and you might want to go elsewhere!

My suggestion was to print out a mock flyer advertising that if you buy a certain product, you'd get a $100 gift card, or a BOGO free offer.
Imagine the lines at customer service for that???
