Cool Beans 05-20-2013, 07:37 PM Took a friend of mine out fishing this weekend Saturday and Sunday. Before this weekend he had only caught one 28" keeper in several years of trying. We caught 7 on Saturday and 9 on Sunday all 29" to 36", took 2 of them home each trip. First pic is him holding Sunday's keepers and second one is me with Saturday's keepers. Was a great weekend caught and released alot and was able to bring a few home for dinner.

Cool Beans 05-21-2013, 09:09 AM Yes, I'm back I did move to Kansas 3 yrs ago to care for my parents who both have since passed (liver cancer for Dad and pancreatic cancer for Mom).
I moved back to RI soon after (about 2 yrs ago) and got my old job back on the navy base.
I didn't go fishing much at all last year, but this year I plan to every chance I get.
I did sell the boat, but can rent the 18' center console boats from the base for a decent rate. ($80 a day and that covers fuel costs).
I have been lurkign on the board for a while now since I got back and have done very good at controlling my urges to post on the Political Threads :uhuh: :smash:

piemma 05-24-2013, 06:34 AM I don't want to rain on your parade but the regulation on striped bass is 2, 28" fish per day BUT no more than 2 in possession. That means you had better have eaten both fish you killed the first day to take 2 fish the second day.
The Dad Fisherman 05-24-2013, 07:03 AM 2 guys, 4 fish, 0 problem

What about keeping a freezer full of fillets throughout the winter? :confused:
Nice work!!
Cool Beans 05-24-2013, 12:15 PM Since I did not take my refrigerator/freezer fishing with me on Sunday, Saturday's fish were not "in my possession" on Sunday. :fishin: Daily catch limits do not include fillets in the freezer.
:cheers:
piemma 05-24-2013, 03:21 PM I wasn't trying to bust anyone's balls. I was just pointing out something that was pointed out to me last week.
Cool Beans 05-24-2013, 08:18 PM No worries Piemma, they are quite large and not easily busted.
It's all good. :fishin::fishin:
The Dad Fisherman 05-24-2013, 08:50 PM Since we never get clear definitions of things, I dropped a letter to MA Marine Fisheries and asked them to define "Possession Limit" .....this is the reply I got..
"As far as possession limit goes, it only has to do with what you are in possession of on a given day and wouldn't include fish that is at your home. You would have no problem making an argument that you had caught them on prior days. This obviously brings into question the idea that if you take your bag limit home and then go back out for the day can you catch and keep more. The answer would obviously be no but unless you were seen with fish already that day you would be fine."
Hope this clears things up....granted...this is MA and not RI

Cool Beans 05-24-2013, 09:01 PM Thanks.. I generally try to limit myself to one fish per day, it seems to be plenty to satisfy the table. The "catching" has always been more fun than the killing and keeping. :fishin:
