View Full Version : Know of a job for a Biochem PHD?
Stewie 05-31-2013, 05:55 PM My son in law has just received his PHD in Biochemical Engineering from Cornell, and is looking for a job in the Boston area.
If he finds one, my daughter and he will be a lot closer. :)
If you know of anything, please drop me a line. Thanks...Stew

Stripersurg 06-02-2013, 05:14 AM Plenty of jobs in the greater Boston area in his field, time for him to start pounding the pavement. He shouldn't have too much of a problem landing a job.
nightfighter 06-02-2013, 05:54 AM Much of that industry is based on new technology and research. Therefore it is dependent on funding..... (ask Buzz). He might do well to look at the investment side, using his education as an analyst for the firms doing the funding.......
PRBuzz 06-02-2013, 07:02 AM Stewie: have him send me his resume and what he wants to do and I will send to some of my contacts. No promises.

The big pharma companies have made Boston/Cambridge MA a major hub for R&D but in the last 6 months there have been major reductions/layoffs of 1000's of scientist so the market although huge is also flooded. Pharma is NOT my area of work for the last 30yrs.
Sea Dangles 06-02-2013, 07:02 AM My wife starts a new gig next month with a biotech company in Cambridge. She is a finance person getting in with a growing company. Lot of $ from investors all over the globe.Tell him to go kick some tires.

blondterror 06-04-2013, 12:55 PM Broad Institute continues to grow... always hiring but it is very competitive... use a head hunter that focuses on Biotech in cambridge, boston, 128 area.
I have been in this industry with Buzz for 30 yrs and recently retired :-)
blondterror 06-04-2013, 01:06 PM Stew- Have your SIL call or email me... I think you have my info... I have several good contacts at both instrument vendors in this space and at startup companies in the Boston/cambridge.... a first step could be a Post Doc in academia as well
Chris
Rockport24 06-04-2013, 01:28 PM Congrats on the retirement Chris!
