whats your lure of choice?.... 1rst ,2nd, 3rd.... if you wouldnt mind sharing a tip or two...that would be cool. Mr macey and i were not successful with artificial eels tipped with sea worms but didnt do to bad with swimmers....(ie yo zuri's ,rapalas) except we only encountered blues.:( anyway chime in if you could & thanks!

have a friend that likes to troll any magum plug that he can get his hands on, he's after blues but keeps coming up with bass:smash: . fishes in 40- 60 feet of water, this is his rig, 30 lb mono. 2-3 oz lead in front of the 3' leader, then plug,,,any color, does quite well.

just curious as to what depth you were trolling those 9" inch storm lures .....at....?

I was hitting bottom at 35 feet on one of the outter Boston harbor ledges. Changed from Pearl to Sardine and started nailing them in 70 ft of water trolling around 35-40 ..

i cant get the boat slow enough it idles at 1000 rpm which is to fast i guess i can try the buckets if i want to troll but i really like getting in close throwing lures july and august i want to bottom fish for bigger fish outside newport on those nice days that you can get out there clammer you run into blue fish and bass breaking is there away to tell which is which or do you just wait and see what you catch i know one thing you can ask a hundred questions on spots style finess but theres nothing like being out there trying and seeing what works like the guys say on here you have to get out there im learning everytime i go out im gonna find my secret spot soon its only a matter of time:D

If you can't troll slow enought try large bunker spoons, still like the tube-n-worms best.

If you troll a zig-zag pattern it'll slow the lure speed.

Just wondering how you get your magnums or rapalas down deep and control the depth? Any hints would be greatly appreciated!

Tube and worm is the best. I've tried trolling a ton of other lures and they outperform by far. Also the fatter the worm the better and go as slow as your motor will allow. Also depends how deep you fish but deeper waters try the Santini Tubes. Sometimes orange and black do well but red is the go to color for us.

Wire line to 25 ft. of 30lb seaguar florobrown 6 oz parachute jig with a red/white 6 in. pork rind trolled in the direction of the current, 3-5 feet off the bottom as slow as you can go. Pull it like squid, a bass favorite. pump the rod or use your hand because dragging that much wire around is a workout.

Raven check out the J plugs on the post by Likwid they work great and are VERY easy to troll.
