Massachusetts Great White Shark License Plates | Indiegogo (http://www.indiegogo.com/projects/massachusetts-great-white-shark-license-plates?browse_v=new)

Just found out about this. Doesn't look like they will make their target, but would be a nice plate.... Deadline is tomorrow night. Their marketing sucked.

None of the Registry's "special" plates are available to folks with commercial plates....otherwise I would have signed up.

Why would they put the portrait of the bikini chick scuba diver hugging the head of the shark?! Seems like a pretty stupid idea!

Wish I was still up there. First specialized plate that I definitely would go for. My boys would go nuts for that.

"When we started this campaign, we set an aggressive goal to reach 1,500 pre-orders in just two months. Fortunately, we have more time to accomplish our 1,500 pre-orders, so we are shifting gears. As our online campaign is coming to an end, we are moving to phase two and collecting checks. Checks are to be made out to “Mass DOT” and will not be cashed until 1,500 pre-orders are reached. We will be mailing each of you a letter with a self addressed stamped envelope to make this transition easy. Everyone who has pre-ordered a plate will keep their place in line with low plate numbers! We will keep you all updated on our progress through a monthly newsletter. You can also stay in touch on Facebook and Twitter for more updates. Thank you for your support, and please continue to encourage your friends and family to participate so we can get these plates on the road soon!"

Still did a piss poor job getting the word out.

Surfland posted it up on their website a few weeks ago, but that is all I have seen of it!

So it's $40.00 to "pre-order" the plate, if they reach tgheir goal it will take 6 months minimum to get the plates to the registry, a $20.00 "pick up" fee as well as the regular plate registration fee on top of that?

Nah, I'll just stick with getting screwed by the DMV once, thank you very much!

$40 is standard for those specialized plates. My F&W plate cost $40, the cape one you see is $50, all of the sports ones are $40.

$20 to pick up? That's where the DMV is making it's bucks. But I don't see any issue with donating $40 to shark research and getting a sweet plate out of the deal.

$20.00 pick-up fee AND a plate (re)registration fee on top of the $40.00

The state should get nothing from the sale of these plates.

It must be typical MA politics as usual, where they see a good charity/benefit project and find a way to make money off of it.

I would call that "leaching" but you may have your own description for explaining how the state constantly makes money for doing nothing?

The state calls it "sound business".
I had an uncle that did that, and we called him a useless bum!

I like the kids drawing of a white shark eating seals . Wish there were more seals being eaten .
