Did it have teeth, cause I've run into schools of those things in Gloucester around the rocks and they will strip bait off hooks in seconds! JackK 06-28-2013, 10:22 AM Tough to tell from the photo, but looks like a really red cunner http://www.state.nj.us/dep/fgw/images/reccunner06.jpg Rappin Mikey 06-28-2013, 02:00 PM PortugeeZE Red Porch Pirch Liv2Fish 06-28-2013, 02:18 PM Choggie or bait thief Clammer 06-28-2013, 02:35 PM choggie or cunner /same thing My uncle use to catch them in Maine they were so big at 1st you thought they were a light colored tautog ><>< johnny ducketts 06-28-2013, 06:30 PM Sun burnt cunner Posted from my iPhone/Mobile device Mr. Sandman 06-28-2013, 07:05 PM I have seen a lot of cunners and I never saw one so red...they are normally brown. Also it looks too big for a cunner. Most of them are smaller, at least the ones I have seen. ThrowingTimber 06-28-2013, 07:43 PM maybe gorged on krill. Flamingos are pale white. But their diet makes them that burnt orange/pink color. Posted from my iPhone/Mobile device bloocrab 06-28-2013, 08:52 PM We always called em' choggies, and if that is one...I've definitely seen them that big...not so red, but not far from it. Actually, the larger ones I've seen were actually lighter than normal...but every other attribute tells me choggie. Not for nothing but, they are truly a delicacy, gutted, scaled and pan fried? yum, yum, yum....undressing does suck though Nebe 06-28-2013, 09:03 PM It's an Irish choggie Posted from my iPhone/Mobile device JohnR 06-28-2013, 09:14 PM Sun burnt cunner Posted from my iPhone/Mobile device Look at that quick and tell me it didn't look like it spelled something else :rotf2: MakoMike 06-29-2013, 07:55 AM Tough to tell from the photo, but looks like a really red cunner http://www.state.nj.us/dep/fgw/images/reccunner06.jpg I'll second that I.D. We've caught them close to three times that size on the west grounds, during the fall. And twice as big are common out on Cox's. Mr. Sandman 06-29-2013, 02:57 PM That sure looks like it....thanks. I have just not seen them that red before. johnny ducketts 06-29-2013, 03:42 PM Look at that quick and tell me it didn't look like it spelled something else :rotf2: This is a family site right?
