View Full Version : GW near horseneck beach jonserfish 08-08-2013, 06:00 AM Adult and offspring spotted off the beach yesterday. Beach was closed to swimming for a while Back Beach 08-08-2013, 06:05 AM You sure the "offspring" wasn't a skinny guy in a wetsuit? Posted from my iPhone/Mobile device JohnR 08-08-2013, 07:13 AM Interesting - saw this on the news - didn't hear the offspring part Yo Mike fishbones 08-08-2013, 07:37 AM http://m.wcvb.com/news/horseneck-beach-temporarily-evacuated/-/17428308/21371954/-/8m9c7w/-/index.html Posted from my iPhone/Mobile device Fly Rod 08-08-2013, 08:29 AM greatwhite hooked and released on NW corner Wednesday...they must be here on the northshore we have a population of 500 seals between gloucester and rockport RickBomba 08-08-2013, 12:34 PM I saw some of them near Rockport on Saturday. Jerks! Raven 08-08-2013, 12:49 PM highly oxygenated water appears to be an attractant for GW's too because they don't have to put in as much effort swimming to breathe and can take a rest.... this is what they were saying on the Shark Science channel and that it's not the proximity of Swimmer's they're after even though they're only 150 yards off shore .... as seen by the spotter planes TheSpecialist 08-08-2013, 03:17 PM A possible shark was seen 50 yards off of Wessagusset today Because no one could confirm what it was the Weymouth rec dept is saying mola.. I will post a pic I got from someone that was there.. TheSpecialist 08-08-2013, 03:19 PM Here ya go I think a Mola would have a more rounded dorsal, at least the couple I have seen did john kokoszka 08-09-2013, 10:30 PM Looks like a white perch.:rotf2: MAKAI 08-10-2013, 06:58 AM Saw a video of the sea monster off Weymouth. Indubitable mola. Posted from my iPhone/Mobile device Liv2Fish 08-10-2013, 09:28 AM That would have to be a large mola for a fin that size and they usually are flopping from side to side but what made the white wash behind it? They are very short for their size and after landing a large one a few years ago that I somehow snagged in the mouth with a tube, I got to watch first hand how they alternate their "tail", kind of like how we kick with our feet, when they swim. I'm betting mola but who knows. Between all the sightings and watching shark week lately, I'm thinking twice about the added safety of wetsuit V.S. waders....Hopefully coffee urine smell repels them... john kokoszka 08-10-2013, 02:08 PM :eyes:According to the newspaper the sighting at Horseneck was someone sitting in a truck with binoculars. Every dark shape in the water will be shark now. WESTPORTMAFIA 08-10-2013, 05:21 PM :eyes:According to the newspaper the sighting at Horseneck was someone sitting in a truck with binoculars. It was a lifeguard and a boater Posted from my iPhone/Mobile device Uncle Rob 08-10-2013, 07:26 PM Horseneck beach has the worst under-toe in all of New England waters except for the beach close'st to Spain. Get in it and hang on, it will ride you right out to the feeding ground. Too many years have passed sense I was on the lifeguard stand. thank God!
