My son caught this last weekend and we have no idea what it is. Had a sucker mouth and pretty cool stripes on it.

The head up this way in the deep summer. Fished hard down south, they call them king croakers or something. I've never seen one north of the canal, but caught them on Nantucket as a kid.

past 5 years mt hope bay has been loaded with them. they make great bait!

They're in the croaker family. Think redfish, with the underslung mouth.

They call them whiting down south. What we call whiting are silver hake.
