Can you tell us a little about painting them? I am about to try refinishing an older pikie and don't know what to do after i sand it down. Maybe reccomend a plug building book if one has been written. MAC 06-18-2003, 12:38 PM Rocketman, I start with the plug body sanded down to 220 grit. I then prime with Kilz, let it dry for a day or two then when dry lightly scuff the primer with 000 scotch brite pad. I use createx paints with the airbrush. If painting with a yellow or a white pearl I apply a coat of base coat white, these colors don't cover very well so the base coat helps alot. After I get the plug painted I let it dry for a day. I then spray it with Spar urethane for a scratch coat. This coat must be totally dry before epoxying. After it has hanging for a day I scuff it with the scotch brite again. I then wire the plug, install grommets, lip, eyes etc. Then I will apply the enviro-tex. let it dry for 2 or 3 days and put hooks on. Done Tagger 06-18-2003, 03:27 PM Nice again Newelly....where'd you get those eyes ?....Love the paint !~!!! sweeeet... MAC 06-18-2003, 05:23 PM Got the eyes when I was up at Kittery Trading Post looking at firearms last winter. Big Vern 06-18-2003, 06:33 PM Sweet pikies. You do some mighty nice work. My favorite pic is the one with the single yellow pikie where a gold wedding band is clearly pictured on your left hand which means that you're married, and that somebody's wife is putting up with a big pikie contest going on in the basement. God bless ya man. She's a keeper. rocketman 06-19-2003, 11:02 PM I particularly like the banana pikie also, the color is spectacular. I hope the fish like it as much. You do fish with these creations, don't you? tlapinski 06-25-2003, 08:17 AM NG - that large pikie i got saturday is AWESOME!!! no problem throwing it on my 1088, either. didn't score on it yet, but nothing was working saturday night. the small pikie are sweet, too. thanks for the plugs!
