Curious: did you report to the police or Coast Guard? There may be boater(s) missing?

Four years ago my brother and I were driving on chappy when we came upon a 30'er up on the beach below the twin sisters. Two guys standing by the boat were chatting away. We asked if the needed anything, food/water, phone,, and they replied they were all set. The tide was dropping out from under thier almost dry grounded boat, so the wait they had would be most of the day before there was enough water under the boat again to nudge it off the sand. Couple of hundred feet east and the bottom would have been ruined by the rocks.

The clip that holds the mooring line was broken. It was about 200 yards from the PJ light with hundreds of people there. I did not call it in, i guess it was there for quite some time.

I believe I was with the RIROCKHOUND when we can upon a 30' boat on the beach at Deep Hole some years ago. Guy was sleeping inside waiting for the tide.:smash:

I would have claimed her as salvage.

Wonder where it came from.. Was it in front of the gun mount? Not many moorings around the lighthouse. Maybe a small handful inside the harbor of refuse

I knew those rocks looked familiar. :uhuh:

DEM and Narr Police come by Camp Cronin at least once a day, I'm sure they saw it.

It was about 50 yards east of the gun mount. I figured it may have come from the harbor as well. It was registered in CT.

This could have, and should have been me 5 years ago! My boat is moored in the salt pond near great island bridge. I got a call at work ( i work 2 hours away!) from the assistant harbor master. He said it broke off my mooring during a strong nor easter and he saw it from his house as it drifted out and under the great island bridge. He grabbed a rope and ran as fast as he could to the end of the docks just past frances fleet, barely beating the boat there (full moon, dropping tide). As it rounded the corner to the main channel, the bow swung towards him, so he threw a lasso and caught the anchor... had only one shot at it. 2 commercial guys helped pull it in. He called me stating it was tied in a 80' commercial vessels spot, and as soon as they come back in from pulling their gear they are going to cut my lines, so id better get there FAST.

No insurance on my boat! had he not caught it, it would have drifted right out into the 9' swells. 100$ gift card to Charlie O's for the assistant harbor master for that one!

to this day, I have triple lines, and i still frequently check my boat just to see if its there.
