Been going there for most of my 38 years for family vacations. Missed this year because the house we rent was missing most of the first floor. They got the boards back, business back up and restored the shore. Now, this. Most of the southern part of the boardwalk is gone....just gone! Can't believe my eyes. Heartbreaking but thanking the man above that no one has been seriously injured. It had all the makings of a horrific disaster but the boardwalk can be rebuilt. Lives cannot. Praying for the first responders safety

Like Bob said. They had just spent $7 million on the new board walk alone
that were destroyed by the fire along with 22 business who were just coming back
from Sandy.
Heartbreaking as the 100 year old buildings were the
tradition of the shore. Even if they rebuild, it won't feel the same.
Firemen from 8 counties responded, probably all volunteer guys.
Can never give these guys enough credit.

Been going there every year since 1947. It will never be the same.Drove down to see it after Sandy and it was bad. Don't even want to see it now. :crying:

Another real tragedy for sure. Seaside being my favorite shore area I'm at Island Beach alot and was deeply saddened by what Sandy did. It looked like a war zone and was difficult to look at. I just can't imagine the destruction the fire caused, but as others said, hats off the the firefighters and first responders. From the extended news reports we were seeing they really came together and got the job done. And thankfully no loss of life we've heard of.

The only bright side is that the people that lost surely had fire insurance. Not the case with the flood as they couldn't get it from what I heard. With the insurance help, though it is still devastating, they are going to get some sort of assistance rather than having to foot the bill themselves. Still never going to be the same but they rebuilt after Sandy and rebuilt after the fire from a long time ago (can't remember when). They can do it again but awful nonetheless
