Anyone ever used one in the surf? If so, did you like it? I am looking at them but they are in the $500 with tax. A bit pricy

A bit pricy WESTPORTMAFIA 09-16-2013, 09:12 AM I use the N on the boat and it's a beast and worth every penny. I don't think I would use it in the surf. 5/0 09-16-2013, 09:23 AM I use the Calcutta 700 TE. Posted from my iPhone/Mobile device Sea Dangles 09-16-2013, 10:09 AM I use the Calcutta 700 TE. Lived that reel Posted from my iPhone/Mobile device rapidfflow0 09-16-2013, 02:45 PM Great reels. I have a bunch I use from the boat but from the surf I use the tranx. It's internally the same as the Trinidad 14 but non lever drag and has level wind. Posted from my iPhone/Mobile device piemma 09-16-2013, 03:30 PM Just so you guys know. I am all set with boat reels. It's in the surf I am interested in. I have Abu 6500, 2 Calcutta 400s. I have tried the Saltist and didn't like it. I have a Century S2 11' that Saltheart built for me and I want to do it justice. One of the guys here recommended the Penn Fathom. Think I may give it a shot. WESTPORTMAFIA 09-16-2013, 04:16 PM Great reels. I have a bunch I use from the boat but from the surf I use the tranx. I mentioned the TE because that's what I use in the ditch,cast-ability for different stuff eels, plugs and jigs is very good, also the drag is really smooth. I can say it's my go to reel. I never was a big Penn fan,JMHO thou. rapidfflow0 09-17-2013, 11:44 AM My Trinidad doesn't have a lever drag.
