Is this a good deal? Does it have the accessories one would need? Always skeptical of overpriced offerings from this store....

The price on GoPros is the same no matter where you buy them....priced by the manufacturer. The Silver is very good but lacks the remote though it has the capability you will have to buy this separately. If the remote is something you might use just go the extra $100 and buy the "Black" edition! I have the black and have yet to use the remote. NOTE: If you have one remote it can be used for multiple cameras so you don't have to buy a camera with individual remotes....buy one "Black" edition and you can use the remote with the "Black" camera and 2 "Silver" edition cameras if you so choose! "Silver" is a good camera.....I have the 1 "Black" and 2 Heros and will be selling my heros and buying a couple of "Silvers".

Each "package" comes with a standard grouping of extras....you can buy anything else you may want separately.

The remote is nice because you can see which mode the camera is on without looking at the camera. So whether it is mounted on your head or chest, on a T-top or bridge on a boat, you can simply see the camera mode from the remote which is waterproof. Get some rain-x for inside the camera waterproof case, so it doesn't fog up. I have the hero2 and it has poor low-light video & picture quality. I'll let someone else speak to the 3's capabilities.

Did not find the 3 much better in low light....very grainy! Lens on the 3 is much better...less of a fish eye look!

I believe that's true about the prices even Amazon has them for the same price, there are different types like Larry said and it's pretty confusing if you ask me! The best feature and why I would get one would be that some of the models allow you to see what you are filming on your smartphone and use it as a remote. Maybe someone with experience with this can chime in.

I have a cheaper version made by midland radio that I picked up with a cableas gift card I had, no remote, no nothing actually, but the thing is so simple to use, just turn it on and off! Then just pull out he micro sd card and stick in into your computer and you are good to go. Read a ton of reviews of go pro's apps just being a real pain to use and I didn't want to deal and this camera does the job in full 1080 hd.

If you have an Iphone, you can download an App that acts just like the remote plus you can save the pixs on your phone. You have the full function control of the gopro plus you can see what the camera is pointing at w/ your phone.

Android platforms also have a remote control ap. For some reason out on the boat I have never even used the remote ap and I have 3 Hero2 GoPro's all with wireless attachment.

Side note: If you are looking for a cheap alternative, check out the Swann camera that comes up on Woot from time to time.......usually around $100 with remote and veiwing screen. No where as nice as the Go Pro, but does take decent video.....both above and below water!
