I have a few plugs i have done and the Etex is still tacky. It's been a week and have been stored in a 70degree room. There at the finished state with the last of several coats. Is there a way I can get these things to dry without adding another mixed coat...

nope.... Mix well and carefully. I keep a couple plugs above the bench from three years ago that are still tacky, just as a reminder.....

what Ross said. I found that the mix needs to be pretty spot on. Also, do you spin them dry or do the flip method? I put mine on a spinner and that seems to take care of it, but I typically spin them for 18-24 hours.

It's strange i got nine done with same batch, and three are good the other six tacky. I use a scale to make sure I have the proper amount of mix and I mix it up for like ten minutes.... Idk

could it have been the sealer on the wood wasn't completely dry on those plugs? Possibility?

Any pearl in the paint? I have put them right near the pellet stove direct heat..

You can't use a scale, the two parts weigh different amounts cause of the viscosity.

Trust me you don't want to weigh it out.

I thought that was the way to go but found out the hard way like you.

Do a search for "plate method" originally by musky slayer but I also posted my method which is based on his work.

Both parts should be measured by volume and not weight.

the sticky ones are probably from the leftover parts in the very corners of your mixing cup.

Put the tacky plugs in Stripeeze and start over. You may want to put the two bottles of etex in the micro wave with caps off for twenty seconds. That will bring the two parts of the epoxy back to where it was the day it was put in the bottle at the manufacturer.

Always sacrifice something before using epoxy. Small pets and children are best, but a short guy like Paul could probably do in a pinch.

like all epoxies follow instructions EXACTLY. be sure to use 2 mixing cups and stirrers ;)

I find the best way to get equal parts is to use rod building syringes. 9 years no issues. On the epoxy I have used Flex coat hi build with great results for epoxy plug finish. E tex same measuring devices too.
