 Is anyone out there catching fish? I went out with Mike on his boat Ave Maria on Thursday. He was kind enough to invite me out with him after his charter had cancelled. Mike hooked a nice bass, about 15# I think, early on. Later I boated my first ever Cod, a 24" keeper. In the cooler he went, that was nice. Caught a bluefish, and discovered that I have some hook setting issues that need to be addressed. I don't get to do much boat fishing. Missed a couple of nice bass when I missed the hook set, my bad. In case Team SeaMonkey is curious, there were honeybuns aplenty. A great day though and thanks again to Big Mike. :kewl: Later in the day, went out slingin' eels with my buddy Joe and Caught my first eel fish of the season, a short 34" with a nice fat belly. (smallest fish I ever caught on an eel) Nice to get that first take of the season though, I love the bump and run. So a great day, (and long) after all was said and done.:uhuh: Anyone else out catching?

Hey Bigfish, glad you got out there for a day, We are still on for a day out there just waiting for the bite to get better and this weather just plain SUCKS!!!! The fishing has been slow this past week for shore and boat. That big school of bass and Mackerel that were out there is long gone, but with the push off bass and tuna in the area, things should heat up a bit especially this coming week with the weather turning a bit for the better. Let's hope so anyway. How you been doing down on the cape? Anything been going on down there at my favorite beach. Bass Or Blue's? Tell Angie we said hello. Gotta get you guys out there soon!!! Some of the local rivers are holding some decent fish, just gota get away from this #^&#^&#^&#^&ty N, NE, E, ENE wind!!!!

FW I hear ya on the wind, you think we cold do something bout this crappy rain as well. I know the fish don't mind, but enough is enough. This member of Team SeaMonkey is not ashamed to say he has gotten the skunk his last 3 trips. Like FW said the wind just plain blows :laughs: This is when you need a boat to go find the fish. Maybe things will certainly change for the better finally this week.

Specialist, you are not the only one haunted by skunks. Down the Cape last week, 13 hours slingin' eels, not even a bump. Just one short on a popper before the sun went down on my third cast and then nothing the rest of the night. Fisherwoman, I will save a day to join you guys but you have to come sling eels at our favorite beach with Joe and I at least once this season. I will see you guys Wednesday night.

I havent popped any keepers yet... several fish between 25"-27"

but out of the two dozen or so times I have been out I have only been skunked once.

Hiiting them well out here right now. IF I had a witness I would probably be leading the 4 leg .... 3 fish 40-43".

But of course that's a fish story.

They are getting consistent 30-40 " fish at the Jetties and around Brant Point with bait. South Shore is still warm.

Tonight is WNW and that is usually pretty good.

Advice: USE the wind to your advantage. Fish the winward shore and be patient. Reel even SLOWER. Don't give up until the lure is out of the water, etc.

As an island guy getting fish on the North side my choice if I was on the cape right now would be up around P-town somewhere.

Good luck.

this morning they wouldn't touch anything I threw-eels, swimmers, plugs. saw a tern flying away with a shiner in his beak so I threw on a deadly #^&#^&#^&#^& and the old lady threw on a hammered hopkins and KABLAM!! fish on-cought four in four casts-got seventeen between the two of us. u gotta use what they're feeding on or you get the cold shoulder.

Sometimes they're picky...

Sometimes they're not...

Time to rotate through everything in the box!

This week? I tried kastmaster (it got popped off my wire leader and i lost it), orange blues bomb, and red/white stripe ranger for stripers and blues, but nothing got them on them. the wind blew the blues to the other side of beach. i chased them after making my parents to drive me there. ;) as you guys heard, i caught two keepers w/ flyrod. i kept one.
