That time of year again and as soon as I finish rereading A Song of Ice & Fire (again) time to read some striperbooks. First might be "Caught" based on what I am seeing here.

What's on the winter reading list?

I just finished Caught and am re-reading Night Tides, The Legend of Billy the Greek. Am also re-reading DZ's book and Hemingway on Fishing at the same time. I have had lots of "flight time" lately.

I'm reading A dance with dragons right now, but I have a copy of caught (thanks Jeff!) which I'll read soon. If you're interested in Fishery Management issues you might want to read "overfishing" by Ray Hilborn. "cod" by Mark Kurlansky is also a goof fishing related read.

I'm hoping to get to Four fish - the future of the last wild food and Cod: a biography of the fish that changed the world

"Striper Surf" by Frank Daignault and an every winter reread, "The Hunt For Big Stripers" by Zeno... tons of good info.

After ripping through the RR Martin books, I figured I'd try Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time series.

Very, very good so far- on the fourth book. Definitely recommend it if you like A Song of Ice and Fire.

Other than that, I've been re-reading McPhee's Coming into the Country. All of those should get me through the winter.

I am reading David & Goliath by Malcolm Gladwell. Its about underdogs, misfits, and the art of battling giants. Anyone who has a child applying to colleges this year should read the book. It has a chapter on why it might not not be in your son or daughters best interest to go to the school held in the highest esteem even if their test scores are very high, and it seemms like success will come easy.
