Old goat fish cake post got me thinking about a few pounds of cryo vac bass fillets in my freezer from late Sept.
Anyone care to share a favorite recipe for some fish cakes.
Would like to surprise my Mom and Dad with some. They were just bitching about how lousy plus expensive the local fish mongers were.

My wife makes them out of striper. They are pretty good. All depends on how many. 1 lb fish . She says pre boiled 2 med potatos, salt and pepper to taste , teaspoon of old bay , 1 egg, 1/4 cup bread crumbs and a little on side to dip cakes in before they hit the oil. Combine all ingredients and form into patties then dip in extra bread crumbs before sauteing in frying pan in oil, vegtable, canola.
Not as good as grandma's though made with cod or haddock.:hidin:

Thanks Paul.
Okay to use Old Bay in place of old bag.
I know I ain't young any more , but I'd still like to think I could fool one or two more , before old bag time. 😎

I will boil or bake some striper or whatever fish until it is just about done. Crumble it up in a bowl ass some ritz crackers and spices, i like cheyenne, salt +pepper, old bay or cajun seasoning, enough mayo to make it stick together and a little lemon juice. Make em into burger size patties and pan fry till golden brown. I usually make fish sandwiches out of them.

Guys Only tried it with salt cod, not fresh or frozen fish.
Don't forget the diced onion.
Brown in pan, then cook in oven .
I'm afraid I'm a PB&J type of cook
