something weird has been happening to me when I come on the forum and click on new posts, the screen changes to sitter.com

https://www.sittercity.com/?pc=cjaf&utm_source=CJ&utm_medium=affiliate&utm_campaign=affiliate&AID=10468018&PID=2203897&afsrc=1

I hit back and sometimes it just skips past the forum and goes back to my homepage but last time just now I stayed on the site copied the link and when I hit back it did take me back to the forum.

It is only on this site this has happened.

is one of the adds forwarding me to sitter.com?

very strange to say the least

and besides, i don't need a sitter and would never find one on the freakin internet:smash:

also by the way John,

way down on bottom of page is a link to top 100 fishing sites, that is a dead site so I think you can remove that next time you're doing site stuff

talk about a browser hijack
that sucks....
i'd run some malware software and look for it
open your control panel and click on internet so that's already open
then minus it to your taskbar
then right click your S-B icon and run it as administrator
once there... @ s-b see if your re-directed
and if so pop the internet settings back up off your taskbar
and see if it says sittercity.com in there
then high- light it and delete it...

put what ever your homepage is supposed to be in that box and hit apply then save

thanks Raven

ya it is a browser hijack I guess
it just happened when I clicked the back button when I was on WEEI.com

so I'll try what you said if I can figure that out
I am a computer dummy

Bruce - go download MalwareAntibytes here: http://www.malwarebytes.org/downloads/

Install, update, and do a full scan - if you have any questions you can call me - thanks!

OK, I ran that and it went for 2 hours, found some stuff, I had it remove them as suggested. restarted computer.

I just went online was looking some stuff up and when I finished that went to click on this site and instead of S-B it took me to sittercity.com again. those freaking weasels:smash:

maybe I missed something. I'll get Melissa to run it again when she comes home tonight from work.

This was happening with Firefox, so now I will use Chrome from now on and see if it happens again

my question is, what company thinks that this is a good marketing ploy?

it would make any potential customer HATE sittercity, no?

Sounds like a browser hi-jack - I have not heard of that one.
Try creating a new shortcut/ favorite and delete the existing one - something may have overwritten the one you had before

ya gotta watch your tabs... make sure something other than
what you clicked on isn't loading....

when worse comes...ya gotta start hacking yourself lookin for
suspicious folders
or in the end
you can system <-->restore back to when it wasn't happening

i just fixed a sorta s-b related problem
as anytime i went into my s-b control panel
and clicked send message
a web finder program would launch
so i went into my computers control panel
and remove programs section and deleted "BROWSE SMART"
which i suspected was the culprit and killed it manually
now when i click send message in s-b nothing launches
except the recipient window

I don't see any reports of a hack directing to that site. Are you typing in the address or using an existing bookmark or link? First thing I'd check is the latter...the malware tool won't correct that.

existing bookmark for both s-b.com and for weei.com when it happened

I stopped using firefox for now.

Raven, I will try that advanced system care you told me about rather than the free AVG we have now

Melissa said maybe delete those links
it just seems very strange

Bruce - keep AVG Free I have not used "Advanced System Care" but it is a malware (and others) tool but not front line anti-virus.

no John it does it all ..........and particularly virus prevention

i just tried doing a screen capture because the program does so much
there's way to much to list it... but it wont let me capture it, darn

real time protection, surfing protection, including Malware
granted, it does have a separate malware program but the ultimate version has it included .... and for the purchase price
it will cover 3 computers on one license

usually what shows in the banner is the last site you were on

say your looking at books at AMAZON dot com
then amazon will be up there

looking at boats somewhere ...then a boat ad may appear
not always - but a page in perhaps
