From Steve Medeiros at Risaa:
I have just returned from the state house where I met with Speaker William Murphy. I was fortunate to gain a private meeting with him on such short notice.
I presented him with over 3,000 SIGNATURES on petitions that were gathered at bait shops around the state in JUST 24 HOURS!
He told me that his office received many, many e-mails and calls from anglers complaining about the license, and while waiting for the meeting I learned that nearly every senator and representative received many calls against the license proposal.
Speaker Murphy assured me that the license proposal will be killed.
Have also learned that several reps have submitted amendments to have it removed from the budget.
THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO SENT E-MAIL, MADE PHONE CALLS, WENT TO BAIT SHOPS TO SIGN PETITIONS, etc.
While waiting in the state house, I met with Senator J. Michael Lenihan in his office. He was in the process of writing his own amendment to introduce into the Senate if/when the House had let the rec. marine license pass. We are fortunate to have good people on both sides.
Also met with Senator Jim Sheehan, who said that he also would try to get the license proposal killed in the senate if the house let it pass.
