Paul is right, Saturday morning after the 6:33 west turn you'll be able to cruise through. Coming back Monday afternoon after 2:30 PM you'll have the current on your stern to push you through.

one thing that may be worth doing is hailing canal control to see if anything large is headed the other way

Listen Freak, if youse is going through my fishing
territory you check with me. And that area is
considered "Inshore". Try not to kick up too
big a wake.

I hear guys complaining about this on a regular. but the truth is most fishing boats throw a smaller wake when they are up on plane at speed then when they are going slow. and fyi the speed limit is NOT for smaller boats just the bigger ones. i'll check on the size regs as I cant remember the exact size of the top of my head

##No stopping or anchoring in the canal.
##No fishing from your boat.
##All boats must motor through. Sails can be up.
##Vessels going with the current have the right of way.
##Vessels under 65 feet long will give way to larger vessels.
##Maximum speed: 10 mph, but you must take no longer than 2.5 hours to travel through the Canal.
##Minimize the wake when passing the moorings, boat basin facilities, and anchored maintenance work boats.
