We started off the bait season at 3am with a bang. We fished rubber baits for the first couple of hours and boated 6 fish before the sun rose. Noteable catches 2 fish 36in + with several long line releases on larger fish up to 40".
Bait was hard to come by as water temps have crept near 80 degrees in the river. With what little bait we found, we did very well with. Drfiting the channel on the outgoing, we landed 13 fish before we ran out of bait. Noteable catches include 1-41", 3-36"+, and the rest under 32". Overall, not a bad morning.

Joe,

I'm going to be in Brooklyn ME (Herricks Cove/Blue Hill Bay/Naskeag Pt)

Looking for where to fish and what rigs are best in that area for striped bass.

Any suggestion gratefully appreciated.

I have never fished that area, but macks are in full swing. Fish them live if you can catch them, otherwise chunk them and pick an incoming tide to fish.....preferably not in the middle of a bright sunny day. Rig a sliding 2oz. sinker with a 5/0 hook and then cast out and let it sit. Try and find a nice beach proximal to some deeper water. Make sure you check your bait occasionally, crabs will clean you off.

I fish in york, me and the blues chased all the bait fish away. The striper fishing is a little slow. In saco it is awesome though.
