View Full Version : Is It Just Me, Or Is The Fishing Slow?
BigFish 07-01-2003, 06:30 PM  :hs:  Is anybody catching fish anywhere? Man, it just seems like the past couple weeks the fish are just not around. All my usual spots are dead. Is anybody else experiencing the same feeling?:lossinit: :wall: :smash: :crying:  :sleeps:

Clammer 07-01-2003, 08:17 PM Both ////////////////////////:p :p
BasicPatrick 07-01-2003, 08:18 PM As I see it most anglers I know are complaining about slow fishing. I also see larger fish coming in on a regular from both boat and shore than in any of the previous six years.
I really think we have all gotten spooiled by the way the season progresses. Schoolies arrive and there are a ton of them, then the herring and macs make it relatively less difficult to catch a decent fish or 20.
Now that the herring and macs have moved on the fishing is becoming work again. this is what is causing the complaints in my opinion.
The fish are here and there and require a decent amount of work to locate. Seems pretty normal for the first week in July.
capesams 07-01-2003, 08:19 PM clammie ,,,send some pogies up my way will ya , *%^& 11/2 sand eels ain't makein it. no squid , or herrin///// had 3 bass follow an eel the other nite like kids after an ice cream truck, but no takers, did that 4 times, eel died of fright. tossed it in the water an even the crabs didn't want it.
Notaro 07-01-2003, 08:23 PM as for me, they seemed disappeared from falmouth or east cape because of the blues. i havent check them out yet. i hope to catch it this saturday at wareham. if anybody is going there, u can meet me there.
RickBomba 07-01-2003, 09:01 PM Yup,
Me and Rappin mikey hit all the usual spots this weekend very long and hard. I went two strait days with the skunk on...Last day we did ok, but they were very small.
Can't wait to get up to Rockport to try some real fishing.
I felt better when I found out how everybody else out there was doing this weekend. (besides Slip!)
Later,
Rick

FISH AYE 07-02-2003, 03:30 PM I was at the ditch yesterday in the early afternoon and got 34". The blues were on top and the bass below. It was tough getting passed the blues.
BrianS 07-02-2003, 03:38 PM There is so much bait around.. They are fairly well fed and happy...
We were in the middle of a blitz of fish this morning for about an HOUR..... but they were mowing on sand eels... so we only caught a few...
Happy.. well fed fishies...
redcrbbr 07-02-2003, 07:36 PM slowed down...maybe just a little. the bass bite anyways. seem to be getting more swirls and short hits on plugs than connecting. when chunking the bluefish are tearing up bait as it settles to the bottom, mostly 1-3 pounders and sure are keeping me busy when i'm running two poles. burn thru alot of bait too
Duke41 07-02-2003, 07:56 PM Troll tube and worm for day 3 way eels at night. Moving current.

Also, can you get me those pictures of Sandra's fish? Thanks.
Notaro 07-03-2003, 05:18 PM I went to the Back River yesterday and caught no fish, but a bite and a bump. I hit it after the high tide like 3 PM. I used sea clams and tsumani plastic jigs. :( Another time, men, but I am going to Rockport tomorrow.
UserRemoved1 07-04-2003, 07:15 PM Fished Barnstable flats today, low slack incoming was absolutely on FIRE with fish, high point of the day was my 8 year old sticking a 9 lb fish by himself and bringing to the boat. Life is good :)
Sluggos ruled today with bazillions of sand-eels present.
Canalratt1 07-06-2003, 11:46 AM Fished around where #^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^& was the next day. Saw lots of surface action but concentrated on large. Got only two but one was 45" and 36 lbs! Surprised that very few boats were in the area but today with commercial season starting it will be packed. Saw a few other nice ones caught the charters reported a slow day but had a 41 lber the day before. My bass was full of sea lice and this is around the time the large moved in here last year. I'll be back!
