My older Dell Latitude d630, the plug/socket where you stick the power cord is NG and obviously being an older laptop the battery is junk.
If I wiggle it just right to a spot and it stays there the computer will power up but more it slightly it powers off.
Anyone know is replacing the plug port is an option or even a do it your self job for someone inclined ???
It's an older computer and not worth much $ to replace but it's got a ton of my info and other than the power cord issue it serves me fine.
Thanks in advance.

Just to be clear, this is the power cord.
I have a few of them, not the problem.
Back of the laptop female plug where this cord plugs into is the problem, so taking apart the casing of the laptop to access the plug will be necessary.
Thanks

Typically there are solder points on the motherboard. You can open the lappy and resolder on the old one, or replace it.

you could stick that laptop's hard drive into a different laptop as a secondary drive
(slave) and still keep your info.... rather than fixing it

Not many lappys, come with a second HD option, you would have to use it externally.

So you're having problems maintaining friction when you insert your plug into the female port? :devil2:
