Guppy 07-12-2014, 10:00 AM Wayne, have you been using the live well?
if it's in front of the CC take a look at the top of the well where it meet the top of the enclosure,,,,, should be calked and most likely not.
hatch cover in the motor well missing rubber washer?
Are we talking enough water for the bilge pump to come on when at sea
don't worry about it,,,, just keep :fishin:,,, :devil2:
Rod holers, anchor locker, livewell. No biggie - most boats do the same

wdmso 07-12-2014, 04:53 PM everything flows on deck or overboard going to put some plumbers tape on the plug see if that works . well see
piemma 07-13-2014, 09:24 AM No matter how good you think the seals are, water will get in. I never figured out where but my boat will get water in it if it rains hard. Everything is closed up and, in theory, sealed. Hatches to get to the bilge pump, live well pump the hatches for the rear seats, around the big hatch in the center of the boat for the gas tank and sending unit and wiring harness. They all have rubber seals and I am sure that eventually, they all leak a bit.
It's not a big deal. What I usually do is as I come out of the cove, I'll bring the boat up to about 3K RPMs. They will point the hull up and whatever water is inside will drain back. I will have the bilge pump on and it will usually pump out about 5 to 10 seconds of water. No biggie!
thefishingfreak 07-13-2014, 03:38 PM Get an automatic float switch and get the extended replacement plan for it. There are 3 on my boat plus high water alarm.
They are a fact of boat ownership. Boats leak, and float switches never last.

thefishingfreak 07-13-2014, 03:39 PM Also TASTE IT ! Very simple test that tells a lot, instantly.
is it fresh water rain? Is it saltwater?
When twoshort was new they never sealed the drain plug fitting to the hull itself. Brand new boat and Almost sank at the dock.
You can put some water in the bilge and see if it leaks out while on the trailer.

riff_raff 07-14-2014, 09:37 AM One common live-well leak not mentioned yet is you can have a leak in the plumbing on the output side of the pump. Similarly water systems tend to do this.
Also common are water outlets that can allow water in when the boat rocks. A good practice is to have any such bilge pump hoses loop up as high as possible, then connected to the fitting, but often they are cut as short as possible and it leaves a perfect slope for water to run down into the bilge when the boat rocks.
