looking to replace my hand winch with an Electric winch. and mount the Battery on the trailer .
Seems I can get a 2500lb or higher ATV winch with a remote way cheaper then one that has the word boat on it . besides the crank if the battery dies is there a difference . and not in a position to spend 500.00 buck on one need trim tabs 1st

and anyone use a snatch block on their trailer?

I've definitely seen snatch blocks used on trailer winches. The spool on the winch has to be able to handle twice the length of the needed cable though.

had a winch on my 20 footer...worked great fitted it to where the crank winch was....used 12 volt deep cell from back of truck and recharged at home....did have it wired to truck battery at one time....4 thousand lb. would be way to go
