The Navy Base will be doing their end of summer Fireworks event tonight. FREE and open to the public. Main Gate to the base opens at 5pm for pedestrian traffic (most park a block away near Walmart). They will have the Navy Band and also one local band there playing between 5pm and 9pm. They always start the fireworks right at 9pm, launched from a barge between the base and the Newport Pell Bridge. Really want to go fishing tonight, but may be unable to park anywhere near my kayak on base, due to all the visitors. If anyone wants to come by, the Base always puts out a very good fireworks display.

Just like any big event, at the gate security may be doing bag checks and wont allow backpacks and ice chests.

Thanks for the heads up! Those fireworks were better than the 4th of July !

Just saw this. I watched them from mmy front yard. Best fireworks I saw all year. Great job. My dogs dont agree though.
