So I am driving down the highway (95 in Cranston) at slightly elevated speeds and I see some debris coughed up under the wheels of the car 10 car lengths ahead of me. Looks like a stick.
Well, the "stick" was in fact a twirling hammer that hit the grill surround and flipped the claw 1/3 inch into my (Aluminum) hood, 4 feet in front of me and 2 in front of my windshield. It then bounced over me and hit the Volvo behind me. Called it in as I would hate to see that go through someone's windshield and KILL them.
Guys - please lock your #*&$&^# hammers up

Didn't that happen to some guy with a piece a rebar kicked up some years ago?

Glad you didn't take it on the chin literally.
Are you sure there wasn't a Highland games near by? Could have been a world record.

glad it didn't hit your windshield
and then hit you....
hammers are balanced so they'll spin
quite easily "end over end"
i ran over a diesel hand-pump that goes into a 55 gal drum
and it dented both rims making the tires go flat suddenly
on 146.... that was scary

Hahaha - no tape measure
Raven - it was spinning perfectly, like something out of the movies, in 3d rapidly coming towards me. Zero time to react
