Have 16' Corson with 35 HP Evinrude (early 1980s?). Seeking recommendations for a good Go-To FixIt shop on the north shore (between Salisbury, Mass and Kittery, Maine).

Been a couple places and they take it in for a few weeks then decide that "something is wrong", but they won't work on it!!! Nor even do they have interest in selling me a used 40 HP for this boat, due to age of boat (though the transom is stated, "40HP" and is in good cond.)!

Seems like more than a home fix it. Runs great 'til it conks out after 20 minutes.

If someone has had real good luck with a repairperson, specifically with this type of engine, then please advise.

Thanks Much.

Backlasher, It runs fine for twenty minutes then quits. It sounds like the vent on the gas tank either is closed or pluged. Have you ever opened the tank and heard suction?

Borrow a 3 or 6 gallon tank and hose with OMC fittings from someone and run it. That will eliminate the fuel delivery to the engine. Since it starts, that usually eliminates spark and compression (primary and secondary in a 2 stroke). Otherwise, you can try Perley's Marina in Rowley (978) 948-2812. They are solid and no BS. But, do understand this is PEAK season and you may have to wait.
