What do you guys like using from a Boat , I noticed this year while fighting albies I enjoyed one of my rods it had a complete bend from reel to tip. (slow) and another that was faster and was more tip. both 7ft rods
the faster rod I felt it more more in my forearms while fighting multiple fish then I did with the slow action rod.

bass I am using conventional . and have not paid much attention to the action out side of MH or heavy. looks like i need to start

With the potential fish you may encounter from a boat, using a slow action rod (light to medium) is problematic.
Even though you will enjoy the fight, and depending on the species, you may be putting undue stress on the fish.
Slow action rods require you to fight the fish until it tires, thus making those fish less likely to recover properly from the fight.
Fast action rods (medium to heavy) have some bend, but make you work harder fighting the fish, which makes you bring them in quicker.

Basically slow and fast action is more a factor for fly rods, so that you can cast flies of different weights.
For boat rods it would be classified as "ultralight, light, medium, medium heavy and heavy".

Fast and light. I prefer 7'6" for tossing lures. That extra 6" makes for a softer tip, allowing for light lures to load up the rod, but the lower 2/3 has plenty of sack. I've landed tarpon to 100 pounds on my 7'6" 12-20 lb Star "stellar light". Now for eels I like something slower with more overall bend. 7" is just right. Very forgiving when you need to hurl the freakin things, yet powerful enough to handle mean fish.
