Here we are days away from the latest mid-terms in what will be a never-ending "daisy-chain of annoyances, and it made me wonder:

There's a line in the movie "Brewster's Millions" (Richard Pryer and John Candy) where the character "Monty Brewster (Pryer) has to spend 30 million in 30 days without having any assets at the end of 30 days. If he succeeds, he gets 300 million, if he fails he gets zero!

One method spending $$ was to launch a political smear campaign against the to mayotal candidates, basically slandering himself.

His quote (paraphrased):
"Why would someone spend hundreds of thousands of dollars to get a jog that pays a hundred thousand, if they weren't planning on stealing back...with interest!"

So why are these hacks wasting so much money on these stupid campaign ads, ads that do nothing more than make me change the channel, when they could be doing something REALLY meaningful???

Oh, and don't forget, they get to KEEP all excess funds they don't piss away when the election is over!
Talk about a big score!

Frankly, I'd be happy if we could start all over again.
Make elected officals PERSONALLY responsible for their action, inactions and make then accountable for how they vote and how they spend OUR tax money! Let the punishments fit their crimes, and make the punishments MORE extreme because of their position!

Of course this is Massachusetts, so that will NEVER happen, and we'll continue to keep getting the same crappy politicians year after year.

I do not want an indexed gas tax
I want a bottle bill
I don't want casinos
I don't want anyone running for governor

I want my phone to stop ringing and having people on the other end tell me how I should vote...

I do not want a bottle bill...we have separate recyling at curbside that is included in our trash pickup fee.
I want a casino...was aganist it at first...thought about it....cleaning up one of the most toxic sites....jobs and tax revenue...so what if it goes bust in the future.
I do not want an indexed gas tax.

I don't want an indexed gas tax. I don't want an archaic bottle bill that just lines the coffers of political hacks. And I'm all for a casino... just not my backyard

Please let's have term limits. Problem is.. That would mean that the very people we want gone would have to make it happen. Yeah right.

best way to institute term limits is to stop re-electing the same hacks election cycle after election cycle... "racist" tea party backed candidates have been the largest source of non-establishment candidates for the last couple of cycles, but those folks get characterized as nuts and people like Charlie Rangel get re-elected:uhuh::)

Speaking of bottle bills. Did you guys know that when bottle bills were created at 5 cents a can, a guy tooled up to make cans (which cost him 2 cents to make each can) and simply made millions of cans and returned them to be refunded 5 cents??

We have single stream recycling here too, I'm just tired of seeing water bottles everywhere

If Wynn does clean up Everett that would be great. I am from South Jersey and have just seen all the money flowing in, flow out to somewhere else. Atlantic City is still a dump, sadly.
