Anyone run into some good Black Friday Deals out there?

I got a pretty cheap TV via the slick deals site that John spoke about a few years back.

I needed the TV and it seemed like they are priced crazy low today.

My black Friday deal was having to work a full day even though the stock market closed early.

I always have to explain that no matter when the market closes on the wasted holiday events I always work a full day.

That's because the banks are still open.

I wonder if any but the most knowledgeable know why it's called black Friday?

Back in the days before Al Gore invented the internet, retailers books were kept with pen and paper. Many operated for much of the year at a loss (allegedly), and the books were marked in red ink indicating a loss. Black ink indicated profit. Black Friday was a concept that would start on the Friday after Thanksgiving that would hopefully put the retailers in the black (profit) during the Christmas season.
This also escalated the "commercialization" of Christmas in my opinion.

Black Friday is a day I stay home and reflect........on the total friggin' morons who want to go out at strange hours, wait in cold long lines, fight other people and deal with the aggravation of others absolute and total selfishness and ignorance!!!! Those who do this have my deepest sympathies.......I was thinking how pathetic you all were yesterday!:tooth:

Would not catch me dead out of the house or near a store or shopping mall on Black Friday!

I just bought online yesterday also. I never stayed out at night to wait in line and I actually feel bad for the people that have to due to limited incomes. It seems like it is getting more civilized due to deals being available online but it is too bad when people start going crazy over stuff.

I also don't like stores opening on Thanksgiving and taking people away from their families.
