I'm just starting my first rod. I got a SW1088 blank. What is the purpose of having a layer of thread under guide and wrapping?

PNG 07-11-2003, 07:39 PM Hi M_S, I'm assuming you are speaking of "underwraps". They are to protect the blank from the guide feet and decoration. Not absolutely necessary - it all depends on what action you want the rod to have when you are finished wrapping and to give it a personalized look(custom). I almost always underwrap. Happy wrapping, Chris mikecc 07-11-2003, 07:41 PM It is to protect the blank from the guide foot cutting thru the blank while flexing. Moron_Saxatilis 07-11-2003, 07:55 PM Thanks guys, I thought it may have been purely decorational. Now I know. vBulletin® v3.8.7, Copyright ©2000-2025, vBulletin Solutions, Inc.
