Free Koi to a good home,beauties all and all sizes and colors.Closing down the pond and want these fish going to a good place.

Also a Pondmaster 1000 filter(including pump) and about a half season's worth a food free also.Also a large box filter that handle two pumps.Plenty of bio balls for the filter(S).

Norm, My friend from Acushnet, MA has a beautiful pond and will take the koi. This year all his koi had died due to a failed water pump. These fish will definitely go to a good home. Let me know and I'll make arrangements to have him contact you or vice versa.

From what I understood the lack of water circulation caused the pond to freeze over, thermodynamics. This pond has the water falls, crosswalk but this winter snowfall record in Acushnet prevented immediate repair to the pump.

Were they away when it happened?

I try and keep mine running every winter which is difficult with ice dams. As long as you have oxygen exchange through a floating heater or air stone water circulation shouldn't matter as long as it's not crowded with fish.

Just curious, I've never lost a fish to freeze and my pond isn't even very deep.

We had a similar situation also and lost a few fish but the majority survived because of the de-icer,but at some point the ice had torn a hole in the liner and we now have a slow leak and the pond became to shallow.What's required to sustain this pond is more than we are willing to do.Our plan is to have the ponds filled and leveled off by Memorial Day,we're going to make it a nice shaded sitting area.

My parents had a really impressive Koi pond as well,my dad would put 2 wheelbarrow inner tubes in the pond in November this would prevent the pond from completely freezing over and allowing the spent air to terminate. Needless to say the first few years he inadvertently was making "Mrs. Paul's"fish sticks.

I lost a pond full of large mouth bass a number of years ago because the snow got so deep no sunlight could penetrate the ice. Lack of O2.
My pond is about 1 acre and spring fed.

Fish are gone.Thanks Redsoxticket!

The pondmaster1000 filter,the larger box filter and all the bio-balls are still available.One Supreme Mag-Drive pump(250gph) is also available.
All this stuff is free to anyone willing to come and get it.

I think I nabbed the last pump but if you are going to use it you're welcome to it. I got it as a backup.

Also, if I can find them I have a gallon zip lock full of bio balls you can have.

I still have the two filter boxes,bio balls and a de-icer if you're interested 5/0.

This is the same pump Spence grabbed.Its the recommended pump for the smaller pondmaster1000 filter:

I was using two of these in the larger filter box because I needed seperate hoses for the waterfall but one larger one pump will work in a single pond environment.
