Hey all,
Been a long time since I posted as I moved to Philly a couple years ago. Miss RI and the bay big time. I'm headed to Provincetown the weekend of 9/19 for a wedding. Anyone know or can recommend a charter out of there? Bass and blues...much appreciated.

Rich is not your run of the mill charter captain. He's patient and likes to help put everybody in your party onto fish, regardless of their experience level.

For the last 8-9 years we've done a 20-25 boat charter in Boston for the BOMA organization.
The past 2 years Ralph brings his boat up for it.
This year I had the group of 6 that went with Ralph the year prior.
Great group of people. We had a lot of laughs and caught fish.
To say Ralph's a bit bitter about the show is an understatement.
Never caught 1 fish and bitched about the show from pick up to drop off.
I've heard nothing but good things said about you guys.
I'm sure these guys will get a good trip.

Seems all the charter skippers are fishing the Bay and most of them are dragging wire.

Anyone offering something different?

I don't see as much wire dragging anymore. it still has a following but is a sucky way to fish for sure. a lot of guys seem to have switched over to vert jigging

Most of the Orleans Rock Harbor crew pull wire with umbrellas and hooch iecs, are probably some that don't though. Laura Jay out of Sandwich loves to tube and worm and are very good at it, also live lines and vertical jigs. Most center console go fast boat charters from Truro vertical jig, never wire, maybe Schooney once in awhile.

Beth Ann from Ptown vertical jig, live line, cast, and if we are looking for the pods of fish to vertical jig on we put an umbrella rig out so as not to waste any time not fishing, while looking for the fish. Also will wire line jig heavy River fox jigs on the bottom at slow troll if bass are lying on the bottom in less than 25 ft.

Bottom line, some boats may exclusively use wire and umbrellas, but most use a variety of techniques depending on what the fishery demands at that point in time. Best to call the charter and really ask questions before you go. If they are nice and understand where you are coming from, go with them, if not, call the next one.

Yup, I stopped by the Goose and then Rock Harbor to chat with the guys and that's what they said.

Not really my idea of fun.
