View Full Version : Thoughts and Prayers needed for Chef Chris
JohnR 09-27-2015, 07:53 PM Chris and his wife are OK as are the dogs, but there was a bad fire over at his house. Lots of fire and smoke damage.
From Chris on FB:
Absolutely devastated right now and just at a lose for words.
Last night some type of fire (the fire dept thinks electrical) tore thru our living room and completely engulf the house in thick black smoke.
Our dogs were rescued by Warren fire dept, they are all safe, Rocky had to go the ER for observation but is doing good and should be home tonight. Milo and kona are doing great, my mom is watching them currently.
Jen spent the night in the hospital for smoke inhalation/light burns from trying to find the dogs. I have some light burns and crushed knuckle from trying to punch a window out.
Just an insane night, but everyone is safe and material things can be replaced.
We lost everything, I got to look around last night and I don't think anything is salvageable.
Our neighbors were great, thank you for the help and support.
The Warren Fire and Police departments were incredible and saved the day.
Thank you to everyone who reached out and helped last night.
We are staying in a hotel that's dog friendly so at least we can all be together.
BMEUPSCOTTY 09-27-2015, 08:19 PM Wow, that's scary... Thank god everyone is okay.

nightfighter 09-28-2015, 05:50 AM Crushing news, Chris.... After illness, injury, and loss of life, a house fire is the worst experience one can have IMO.
Let me know where I can send a check, to the same address, or somewhere else, to help with things immediately. Everywhere you turn will be something that needs to be replaced.
Give me a call or text if you find time. If only to bounce ideas about logistics and what next step is at any point in time. We are here when you need us.

tattoobob 09-28-2015, 06:01 PM Chris I'm glad everyone is safe, I just hope there wasn't to much damage and loss
nightfighter 09-28-2015, 06:40 PM Hi guys and gals,
I spoke with Chris today and he sounded good, considering. What I didn't know is that he was flooded in a previous home during Sandy as well.... At any rate, the Blouin family and dogs are on their way to rebuilding their lives, as their home was a total loss. Total. Might be a sealed container with some clothes, but that is it. Everything is gone.
So knowing the guy Chris is, he will move forward, work with the insurance company, and keep his bride in the best shape that he can. Adjusters will arrive in the next day or so. But we all know that it won't cover everything, nor is Chris trying to make money on the deal. It has to be devastating to have just the clothes on their back. IHOP for the morning after breakfast. All out of pocket, and this is just the beginning. So I hope some of you will join me in sending what you can to help them offset the coming tide of outgoing cash to rebuild the necessities of daily life. When everything is gone, it comes down to cash being the best way to help out. No other way to put it.
I am sending them a check today to the address I have for Chris. Before I put that address out here, I will ask Chris for his blessing to publish it on the web. Otherwise, maybe someone more local to them could offer to receive funds we wish to send in order to help one of our own.
These are good people. I am going to ask the Cuttyhunk crew to come through in particular. He sure as hell has provided for us during our trips.... Thank you for your consideration. Ross
Poncho 09-28-2015, 06:57 PM I'm totally in to help out however I can. Let me know where I can drop some cash or mail a check.

JohnR 09-29-2015, 07:54 AM So, as a consideration, I see some of you are dropping some checks off to Chris.
I propose a mini-raffle I have a Flag Painted Plug from Freak that I won on auction at the CSA event for Tony Stetzko.
I will raffle this off after I find it in the next couple days (my computer/fishing room is boxed up). But it is very nice!
chefchris401 09-29-2015, 07:58 AM Just wanted to say thank you to everyone for the t&p, well wishes, donations, calls, texts, emails, etc.
Been a crazy couple days to say the very least.
So far so good, we are staying at dog friendly hotel with is decent and that my renters insurance is covering at least for the time being.
Obviously the most important thing is that we are all safe and our dogs are fine and here with us.
But it's very sad and heartbreaking to walk thru the house and see all your hard work and items you've worked hard to own just burned and melted
Then you have the fishing stuff, which again is at the bottom of the list. The pics of the fishing gear is crazy, my vs is melted, rods curled up to twigs, epoxy on plugs bubbled and split.
Some sentimental items may be savagable like my wife's wedding dress, some clothes and suits.
But again you guys are amazing and means a lot to us.
