chris L 03-31-2016, 04:47 AM My moms cancer has metastasized to her ribs and spine . Which happens to 40% of lung cancer patients . The damn disease has no cure and they are giving her radiation to ease the pain . I have an appointment with her Oncologist today with my brothers .
It came on fast and sudden . One day we were together most of the day and Mom was happy and full of energy . Then the very next night it reared its ugly head and by Monday 3/21 Mom was in the hospital . It took us all off guard.
We gave this disease a damn good fight but are loosing the attle . Mom is such a strong woman .
Please pray for her so as not to endure too much discomfort
Rappin Mikey 03-31-2016, 04:50 AM I am praying for you guys bud. Stay strong.

Rappin Mikey 03-31-2016, 04:58 AM I know you are the kind of guy that is going to project that strength to your mom and rest of your family too. The power of faith can do amazing things. I am going to get your mom on the prayer line of the Sisters of St Joseph if that is OK. I just need her first name if that is ok.

JeffH 03-31-2016, 07:22 PM If I have learned anything in this process is you need to LIVE life for whatever days you have. None of us know how long we have so live each day as if it was your last!
Losing my wife is the hardest thing I have ever dealt with in my life and the second most isn't even close.
Sorry to highjack the thread. Chris what you will find is you have far more friends than you realized and far more people that care. Don't try to to deal with this on your own use the love that will come your way.

I feel for you Jeff and ,I can't imagine losing my wife/partner in crime, but I too had a rough 2015.
I buried 7 family members and put my pup's down the Monday before t day.
Find it within and you will find your place. Bluecrab was a Huge part in helping me find my solitude.
And I'm still here thanks to him.
I wish you well buddy and stay strong. As always Chris, I hope you have closure with your mom God bless and God speed.

JeffH 03-31-2016, 08:16 PM 5/0 thank you for your words and sorry for your loses and difficult 2015.
I see you are from Mansfield my wife was born and raised in Foxboro and was a die hard Pats fan. This November my sister in law managed through connections where she works get my wife a Tom Brady signed football with a personalized note from him on it. I can still see the smile and happy tears when she got it.
She was only 53 years old and I miss her dearly.
MAKAI 03-31-2016, 08:16 PM I am about to enter a sanctuary.
I will pray for you both.

JohnR 03-31-2016, 09:31 PM Very sorry to hear, Jeff.
bloocrab 03-31-2016, 11:34 PM Chris, ...I'm sorry if I don't have words of encouragement, as you already know, no words can really take away from the feelings you have right now. Despite her age or condition, she is your mom. It just sucks, plain and simple. And for that, I am truly sorry...I will definitely include her in my prayers tonight.
We lost someone today to Cancer, she too had turned it around for short time, then suddenly it returned with a vengeance. Hospice right away...and they gave her 3 weeks. She lasted 1 week and a half, it just happened so damn fast.
If you can, take the time you need (albeit sick, personal or family leave), spend enough time with her to leave nothing unsaid. As hard as it is to face, it will come sooner than you expect...like a thief in the night. You can never be ready for it, but try to get as many "I should have said this, or should have done thats" out of the way while there is still time. Hug her often Chris, you will miss those... As our Mikey clearly puts it, "Enjoy what you have"....I can only add to that, ...while you have it my friend.
It's tough to find light in the darkness, but it's there.
Prayers that the suffering will be minimal. May God Bless you Mary ~
Sympathies to Jeff as well. It's tough riding shotgun to someone with this disease, it takes a lot out of you. It's great that members can share their experiences to help others as they go through it themselves.
God Bless us all.
Got Stripers 04-01-2016, 07:05 AM The posts of late are an indication of how long this board has been around. Sadly age is catching up to many of us and it's good to have a good group of people to support you and throw you some T&P's your way. I remember this board was an important part of my day when my parents were dying, it took me to a happy place for a time and got my mind off my troubles. Hang in there Chris, my thoughts are with you.
Slipknot 04-01-2016, 08:16 AM Sorry to see this Chris, hang in there man. Good thoughts coming Mary's way
vineyardblues 04-01-2016, 08:33 AM God Bless ,
