Still fishing, still catching up here on the north shore. Just got in from a productive afternoon. Cape Ann surrounded by peanut bunker and macs. Whoever is not still fishing, should be!

pretty dead at the spots I hit this morning.

:uhuh:

Three of us headed out this morning hoping to re-live my last outing, ...not to be had though. Isn't it always the case? You invite a couple of people to share in the joys of fishing due to a very recent experience and get sadly disappointed. Started off extremely promising as ten minutes from the dock we were sitting in a soup of stripers, after quickly landing and releasing 3 sub-legals, we boated away from the fish >>yes, I said it...we left fish to go find fish<<...:fishslap:...I always mock people who do that, so shame on me.
Hoping for large, we headed off into what was supposed to be a great day on the water....swells were much, much larger than expected...making it difficult to safely get in tight, especially at low tide. After zipping to and fro, we hit a couple of tog spots that were on fire a couple of days ago. Knowing the tide hadn't really started moving yet, I remained confident that they would show.....:crying:
3 hours of a flooding tide and they were still in lock-down??? We managed a couple, but NOTHING like it should have been.

"A bad day of fishing is still better than a good day work" ??......not when you invite people hoping to put them on fish...and burn one of your last vacation days it's not!!!

In saying all of that, it still ain't over Bigfish. I owe a few more fish a good Azzwhippping!!!

Saw some Albies breaching around there today. Too far out, tho. Bass and blues were gone. Scored a large blue a bit further east that was feeding on a pod of large bunker. I think it was the only blue in the ocean this morning. Fish acquaintance lost a good bass at the same spot earlier. Tough going for sure.

We are due for a November sea herring run. They seem to come in close every 5 years or so and provide fantastic November fishing, but does not look like this will be the year.

Lost my largest bass ever on Thanksgiving eve in SoCo. Not quitting til Dec 1 or so.

It's that time in the season where the skunkins are frequent and in more recent years with a population shrinking it's even been more infrequent. if you can handle that as well as dealing with very cold nights its possible you can find a good bite maybe even a great bite but for myself iam not a fan of cold nights or the gaps in action ...even thou most years someone gets a super cow in the 11th month.

The skunkins' are getting to be more common than the blitzes.
I haven't seen any big fish in the canal in quite some time.
That doesn't mean there aren't any fish, but they are so few and far between that it's like a glass of water to cure a drought!

Thankfully the freshwater fish haven't been decimated like the saltwater fish have. (just look at how many fish are off limit or have much stricter regulations and tell me!)

It's the 80's allover again only with laws without a backbone for enforcement!

tons of peanuts and adult bunker still up in mount hope bay, daily blitzes but short lived.

bass and blues up and down the soco coast/beaches in RI, some sizable blues 13-15lbers, lots of bait around too. big pods of birds working 1/2 mile out with some huge breaks under em.

hoping the sea herring run again like in 2011, was fishing til mid december that year.

managed a couple bass and some blues after sunrise on a 2oz BM pencil, no birds working just blind casting into the white water. saw some keeper amd schoolies get caught by others as well.

Took advantage of the conditions y'day and took a trip to SoCo. Ridiculous amounts of bait - large and small. Gannets, gulls, lots of whitewater, onshore southerly warm wind. Perfect conditions led to only 1 small keeper sized bass. Problem was there aren't many game fish under the bait from what I could see. Might be it for me. 150 days til they come back.
