I hope they confiscated all his gear as well as everyone that was involved, otherwise it's just a slap o the wrist.

I'm glad to see he had to pay all the money back. Restitution is better than a fine and slap on the wrist. I don't want to see people lose their livilihoods but he deserves too. The rules are there for a reason and they may suck but you need to play by them.

Did a search since I can't get the article anymore and the government conspiracy type wack-jobs are up in arms about how excessive the punishment is for the poor guy. As always, there are a pile of tough on crime blow hards unless it is a crime they approve.

Feel sorry for what ?
This ass clown knew exactly what he was doing.
Just thought he could pull it off.
Enjoy the cold gang showers !
That 630k will never be paid btw.

When someone has to pay restitution like that how does it get collected? Is it a payroll deduction, lien on property or just a "I promise to pay it back"?

It's usually paid through the probation department, which can hauls his ass back before the judge if he's delinquent. A Federal sentence almost always includes some form of post-release supervision.

Good! It is rare that poachers get much of anything.

Government officials embezzle JohnQPublic and get cushy lobbying gigs. Yep, system is rigged
