View Full Version : 2015 Striped-Bass.com Saltheart Memorial Member of the Year Nomination Thread.
JohnR 01-20-2016, 11:13 AM Last year we lost Mike White, one of the very first members here on S-B and always helping out, offering encouragement, and on rare occasion when we needed it, being our conscience and keeping us on an even keel.
For the first time, we will have this award for a member of S-B, carrying his name. This is a worthy award.
I guess my primary influence on how we determine this member would be that this award goes to someone that gives selflessly to the community, our community.
Remember, NOMINATION, not voting part. First and Seconded.
Top nominees will be entered in a poll to determine who the S-B.com COMMUNITY feels the MEMBER of the Year.
Simple Rules:
* Member needs to be a member with (at least) regular PARTICIPATION in 2015. Should be based heavily on being a great S-Ber and and all around good fellow.
* Name only
* Member needs TWO nominations (nomination and seconded)
I'll take these names for nomination for this week and put up an anonymous poll after for voting. Member needs TWO nominations (a/k/a nomination and seconded). Winner to be announced at TFCTFN)
Previous S-B MOY Awardee and namesake of this award:
2013 Mike White A/K/A Saltheart.
2014 Paul Devitt a/k/a Niko

I tried to find out when he passed but no one could point me in the right direction. I know Mike lived alone but he did have kids and at least one was a son. JohnR may know more.
JohnR 01-20-2016, 02:10 PM I reached out to a few different places and people but was unable to get anywhere.

5/0... Even with all he had/has going on in his own life, which was ALOT, he always makes time to check in on me to see how I am and my wife is doing during her breast cancer battle. Guy's top notch in my book... love ya bud!

Blackstone Valley Outfitters in Cumberland had a lot of his stuff. I believe the owner bought it as part of an estate sale. Rod blanks, plugs, jigs, etc. I would think a lot of stuff is still in there. There was also a plug I think slip painted in the case up front.
