That's him & yes he does! He was the club winner last year and it looks like a repeat! If this is 60 pounds (and I believe it is) this will be his SECOND SIXTY pound bass from shore! He might just be the MOST successful surdcaster pounding the sand these days! SeaWolf 07-29-2003, 08:07 PM i think this is good news. he got his big fish for the year and now he can pack his gear for the season. when's the party? we are getting him drunk again, right? JohnR 07-29-2003, 08:19 PM Blueberries shore manic 07-29-2003, 08:23 PM WOW, i'm still trying to get over the 80# bluefin tuna last year and the 50+lb striper last year. IRON MAN you's the best!!!!!! Here is the a link to the Iron Mike article that ran in On The Water.....it has a couple of extra photos and is a little longer than the published version. This is the raw text...Enjoy! http://surfcasting-rhodeisland.com/IronMike/IronMikeArticle.htm Raven 07-30-2003, 05:50 AM a HABS needle fish must be a great lure !! Got Stripers 07-30-2003, 06:17 AM That's a real cow, quite a year for sure, congrats Mike. Tattoo 07-30-2003, 07:02 AM Iron Mike - I've fished with the guy probablly 50 times this year if not more....it's usually a few guys that gang up for the night and hammer the surf.....Mike usually starts off with an ice cold BUD and a story of how he worked for 35 minutes today and then did 6 laps around 10 mile drive, had lunch and went home.....a few more cold BUD's and then he might start fishing. Meanwhile the rest of the gang is fishing, maybe catching......Sometimes I think Mike would rather just hang out and enjoy being with the guys than catch a fish....Mike will eventually muster up the energy to make a few casts...... This time Mike leaves the house at 7:30pm - ALONE ( just like all the other times he stuck a cow).....heads out for a few casts alone to "Destination X".....from his house to "Destination X"....figure 20 minutes......8:30pm He's on.....back home at 9:15pm.....:smash: He had to leave an 18lb bass he was going to bring home for supper on the rocks.....he said he just couldnt carry it back with the other fish. Mike weighed the fish the next morning. 60.2lbs caught on a 9inch blue and white HABS Needlefish. I have picked Mike's pickeled brain hundreds and hundreds of time on how he does it......the only thing he can tell me is "I would rather be lucky than good". This makes three years in a row Mike has made his mark. Two 50's and a 60. Congrats to my good friend Iron Mike, the guy who somehow managed to shove a lucky horseshoe where the sun don't shine! As much as I love the guy, and as close as Mike and I are as friends, there is NO ONE in this world that I would like to strangle to death than him right now!!!!!! I just don't know how he does it. I'm off the find some leather gloves and a ski mask. chris L 07-30-2003, 07:16 AM LOL Tatoo . Ive met him once seems like a decent guy and he deserves another couple buds or a 60 or both . Good for you Iron Mike !! where do you find them hab needles ? Mr. Sandman 07-30-2003, 07:19 AM WOW. Damn, that fish makes big fish look small. Do you all know that Budweiser is set to retail higher here in St Louis than back east and it still sells best? I just got a bottle of El Tesoro, Anejo tequila tonight.... to celebrate Mikes Fish I guess! Rock Hopper 07-31-2003, 09:28 PM Hello guys! Hi Mike P:) How are ya bud? Hope the AquaSkinz serve ya well! Hello JHabs, you know that little shorty blue and white you gave me...well, I have kept it as an ornamental piece but I am afraid it will have to go to work now. Just wondering, if it's half the size, does it mean that it will only catch a fish that is half the size of its brethren.... ;-) NIB, WOW you have a huge neck man...yes the larger sizes do have larger necks but they are proportionately cut. The thing with the AquaSkinz neck and wrist seals are that they are generally very comfortable, unlike the latex gasget type of seals. That was one of the considerations we had when we disigned them. To be honest, once you have the jacket on (the right size of course) for a few minutes you barely realize you are sealed up and water tight. Rock Hopper Goose 07-31-2003, 11:44 PM :eek:Sick dude:eek: Notaro 08-01-2003, 08:11 AM i'll be damned. ThrowingTimber 08-01-2003, 08:21 AM Holy schtuff! Awesome fish Mike! The catch of a lifetime!
