View Full Version : New PC internet gone crazy
rphud 02-13-2016, 02:44 PM Starting up a new box with Windows 10, and every time I click a link I get taken to some PC security or performance or drivers site. Takes me 3 or 4 tries to get where I want to go without the other pages opening up. Even here, and I get this huge side banner from Cabela's that can't be stopped and covers a third of the page. Really pissing me off to no end.
Need I say.....help
spence 02-13-2016, 04:22 PM When I did a Windows 8 to 10 upgrade there was some latent malware trying to get me to pay for device drivers. I think it's gone...
Look at your installed programs for anything that looks odd.
What virus/malware programs do you have installed?
Slipknot 02-13-2016, 10:34 PM yep, run malware
rphud 02-14-2016, 09:10 AM yep, 2903 bad things. Now all gone, but the malicious website blocked window still pops up every 5 seconds.
spence 02-14-2016, 12:57 PM Sounds like it's not all gone.
rphud 02-15-2016, 04:32 PM I think it pops up every time it blocks something else trying to get in. Working much, much better now.

TheSpecialist 02-16-2016, 10:10 AM Get a Mac...
fishaholic18 04-11-2016, 09:18 PM Is this happening on "Edge"?
If so, get Edge open, without the pop up, you may need to kill the process in taskman several times until it finally opens to the Edge Homepage. Once its at the Homepage, clear cache, cookies and history. Done
rphud 04-21-2016, 07:36 AM malware fixed things up just fine, what a mess

Personally, I am not going to 10. Tried it twice and recovered back to 8. 10 seems to have a ton of crap associated with it.
Duke41 04-23-2016, 03:55 PM Do yourselves a favor and get a MacBook Air. After years of frustration I got one 2 years ago and never looked back. No Malwar, no viruses, no bull#^&#^&#^&#^& upgrades. Its nice to have one more thing I do not have to worry about. Think of it as a diesel turn the key and she goes.
