I just got an order in (not sure if I am allowed to say from who so I won't). The quality was by far the best I have ever seen anywhere.

I know I have read at certain times that you can possibly fish with toooo long a lure and miss hits so I thought I'd get some opinions on bucktails. You can see from the picture that these are considerably longer than the traditional ones, the longest I have ever seen. I would guess that they will draw more strikes but not sure if they will land more fish. Talking Fluke, Sea Bass, Scup....

Thats a lot of Bucktail to fit into a Flukes mouth.... I think..

For Stripers I would guess this would not be an issue because of their large mouth and be advantageous.

I purposely put a what you would consider a "regular" size white bucktails in each pic to better illustrate the difference in lengths compared to the new ones which are 7 to 8" long.

I don't know if I should just save them for the for the doormats in deep water and the Stripers.

They are nice as you may not need to attach a pork rind or soft plastic trailer on them.

Can't be much longer than the trailers we usually use anyway, I can't see that as a problem (length) for bass. Wonder how they 'undulate'?

Nice jigs. i've been tying and molding them for yrs. Ad a split ring to the eye and use a quick clip for better action. Pork rind helps but not needed for a rich tied jig. To make them close to bullet proof put a drop or 2 of DURO Super glue to them. Best waterproof super glue out there. It's what I use as head cement on all the tail hooks and striper flies I tis.

I anxious to experiment with all the colors. Everyone goes white, then chartruese, pink and black at night. I will try each color evenly and see what happens. I would love to make a few that have colors resembling a Sand Eel as I would guess that would be a winner but you don't seem to see too many using that color. When was the last video you watched where someone was using a tan bucktail ? I will fish and when they are hitting on white hard, immediately change to a wild or different color to see what happens. I would assume after a while a pattern will form and the puzzle will slowly come together.... but then again there are a million of variables..... How many times have you fished and got lots of action then all of the sudden it just stops.... if you had changed colors just prior too you would have blamed the color change. When that happens and things get frustrating you only have one course of action and that is to tie on.......a cold Budweiser....
